I was reading the newspaper in those days and had few of the elders in the family who wree in the mix of military. A-7 were offered by Dr. Kissenger as a “carrot” to Pakistan for its nuclear program. Pakistan never entertained this offer because these aircrafts had no tactical value to PAF. Read all the official and unofficial records or reports of PAF and you will never find them showing any interest in these aircrafts.

PAF was offered 50 F-5E by Carter Administration in 1978 but again PAF never entertained this offer. Prior to this offer US offered more F-104 which again were never entertained by PAF because by than they had withdrawn their depleted fleet of F-104A from service.

After the invasion of Afghanistan by the Russian, Carter Admin. offered Pakistan $400 million aid for five-years which included forwarding on impounded Iranian F-4 which was later withdrawn because of trade for hostage with Iran.

Again, after Russian invasion of Afghanistan some congressman made a suggestion that PAF offered those 110 A-7 but the administration never gave a second thought. Prior to agreeing offer F-16 A/B to PAF a combo of F-5G and F-16 J79 were offered to PAF which they rejected.

Portugal, Thailand, and Greece received used A-7 in the mid-80’s not in 70’s

There is nothing wrong surfing the net even when you are more aged!

This was not a carrot to lure Pakistan away form nukes. Pakistan was actually offered A7s by Nixon/Ford admin without any restrictions and the offer was accepted but b4 they were delivered Carter won the presidential elections and he cancelled the agreement becuz of pakistans nuke program – it was his election pledge to be more strict on nuclear prolifiration and human rights. Then the Soviets invaded afghanistan and Pakistan became Washingtons ally again – but by then PAF did not want to settle for anything less than F16.

No mate, Pakistan rejected the offer plain and simple.

Pakistan was offered 110 A-7 Crosairs in 1975 by Nixon/Ford Admin as carrot to lure Pakistan away from its nuclear program. Pakistan rejected this offer!
I would be very interested in seeing photos of an A-7 in PAF colours

They are some 100 millions of Pakistanis, what are they doing the whole day long?

Good question you ask: They sit and drink tea which yours truly exports from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Kenya.

Nah, Amraam is not BVR, not the current version. Gripen will not use the BVR version of Amraam that is under development in the States. Like I said, Gripen will use METEOR. and in fact the first jet to do so.

    Uh? what?

    Link is not working?

No BVR missiles yet. This will be the METEOR missile, during 2005 the Gripen will perform live fire tests of this new European missile.

Gripen does carry a formadible BVR which is AIM-120 AMRAAM. It is cleared for SkyFlash and MICA AAM.

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about really.

Okay, lets see compare the structure, avionics, engine, flight envople, performance of JAS-39 and SU-30 varient. That’s if you know what you are talking about

If Pakistan buys Gripen from Sweden than it will should have following points cleared:

1- Sweden is only selling these aircrafts because of $$$

2- All the armaments would be none-American most likely MICA, T-Darter and other armements.

3- A lot of technology would shared.

4- This would the largest ever Swedish arms deal.
