Alas, poor thread! You lasted five pages before descending into the usual slanging match.
Must say, I tend toward Dave’s view; the outcome is precisely the one for which I hoped but in the end it truly was the family’s prerogative to decide what they did.
A thought; do any of us know the circumstances that led to the decision to sell? What, if any were Captain Brown’s views? What possible discussions might he have had with his relatives?
Until and unless we do, then really, our comments are ill informed.
As above…..
John, ’twas the late Kenneth Wolstenholm rather than Mr Motson.
‘Well, it was either him or me. And obviously, it couldn’t be me!’
D. Duck in reference to B. Bunny.
Charmian Carr; Leisl from ‘The Sound of Music’.
Gosh, she was pretty!
Hmmmm…….Mr D Adams. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. All is explained.
Something to do with healthy veg?
Looks like a Fieseler Storch to me.
Caroline Aherne; I found her only occasionally funny but yet another ‘personality’ succumbs in 2016.
And hers was a long ordeal.
Seconded……. (thirded?!?)……..anyway, best wishes to him!
Not an expert, so I bow to those who are, but I think it’s a cupola from a Bristol B 17; I believe that’s the type used in the mid upper on the Shackleton?
See my post above………this comment was added after the OP
‘S uncanny!
I remember going up to the playing field as part of our history course for ‘O’level to see the undulations in the ground that were evidence of medieval strip farming; while we were there the master pointed out the uneveness that showed where those bombs had fallen.
The stone walls were still there and, during the power cuts of the Heath years the old gas lighting system was pressed into service.
The masters were a tad more sympathetic, I think!
Apologies for the thread drift.
Teekay…..I guess we were at the same school – thirty years apart!
Latest contribution on the original site suggests the prop is at Belton House! Anything further?
‘But, light of my life, I really NEED that broken spade/wheel/drill, etc! ‘
Oh yes! Been there!?
