My concern would be the smaller air groups that the RN carriers had on board. Even if the CVA 01 was built its air group would still be smaller than the USN carriers. With the ops tempo that the US carriers maintained and the losses that were sustained the RN carriers couldn’t really stay on line as long the the US carriers.

As inadequate as you may consider that to be, it’s still a great deal more than you have done to support your argument.

Gee TEEJ I can post pretty pictures too. The smoke trail from the solid rocket boosters from the space shuttle look similiar to what you call a contrail from your California aircraft.:rolleyes:

Source? TEEJ has given a wealth of info about two flights which were in the area at the time, it’s now on you to do some leg work for once and offer proof of what you claim.

All TEEJ has done is post a bunch of pretty pictures. He hasn’t offered any solid proof that the vapor trail came from an aircraft.

TEEJ all you have is a theory. You have no proof. Do you have solid proof that there is an aircraft at the beginning of the contrail? Do you have the ATC radar/transponder data that would show that there was an aircraft up there and what airline it was? You you have the radio recordings of ATC in communication with said aircraft? The FAA has stated that they have no info about any commerical aircraft in the area.

I’ve discussed this with a few of my ex and current Air Force friends and based on our training and experience we argee it was a missle.

if the USAF would take UAVs more seriously, this is a life that could have been spared, like many others in the future. especially on such a dull, routine yet dangerous mission, with such a valuable aircraft. pure lunacy

I saw a missile launch. I have Jane’s Defence Group saying it was a missile launch and we have a NOTAM that states that the area is used by the Navy for missile testing. It was a missile.

……oh and for those who think I’ve been reading too many techo-thrillers. The United States is a nation on its way down due to massive debt and an incompetent and corrupt government/corporate culture. We are seen as weak. Yeah we flopped at the G20 and China told Obama to go pound sand but he’s so arrogant that it will take him getting kicked in the gonads for him to realize he’s a little fish in a large ocean.

On Sept 10, 2001 nobody would have ever thought about hijacked airliners being crashed into buildings. As far as I’m concerned all bets are off when it comes to dramatic actions. (BTW Clancy’s Debt of Honor. Has a Japan Air Line pilot crashing a 747 into the US Captial building and wipes out the whole US leadership. Talk about a case of life imitating art.)
