Venezuela operated VF-5 Freedom Fighters (ex-Canadian and Dutch aircraft) with Grupo Aï¿½reo de Caza 12 at LT Vicente Landaeta Gil Air Base.

I checked Scramble site http://www.scramblemagazine.nl/orbats/venezuela/airforce and they no longer list VF-5s as being operational at all.

Can anyone please clarify as to whether these jets are still operational or have they been retired?

They´re not operational anymore… although officially not retired yet…. they are locally named “VF-5 Grifos” (Griffins)
