Hi All,
I suppose I ought to say what I think is wrong with the colour scheme.
1. The underside should be medium ocean grey, not black.
2.The grey on the upper surface is far to light. Looks more like med.ocean grey, rather than dark ocean grey.
3.LR 507 was an Oboe Mosquitol, therefore the glass area at the front of the fuz, should be painted over, to hide the Oboe equipment.
4.This final one should get me Anorak of the Month award:) . The camoflage grey/green pattern is the wrong way round. The pattern is for the fighter/fighter bomber version ie the grey & the green should be the other way round. De Havilland used the same (or similar) drawing for the camoflage pattern, right from the early days of the Mosquito. So if a Mosquito rolled out of Percivals, for example, it would look almost identical to one that had just rolled out of dH Hatfield.
On the picture below the dark pattern would be green on the bomber & dark ocean grey on the fighter/fighter bomber.
Now it’s time to go lie down in a darken room & take my pills;)
Cheers,
Neilly
I thought I’d add this piccie, too. Another of Tony’s, taken from the cockpit of LR 507. He said it was taken as they went to mark one of the V-1 sites, but he couldn’t remember which one, without consulting his logbook.

Okay lets have a look at the real LR 507. The picture comes from Tony Farrell DFC. He flew many sorties in LR 507 & I did check with him, just in case LR 507 had a ‘paint Job’!

I was thinking more on the colour scheme side. There are 4 big mistakes.
I can’t comment on the actual model shape/detail as I don’t have one.
I must admit the price is a bit on the high side. I guess you haven’t seen the 1/32nd scale B XVI, that’s rated at £120 when it’s released next year.

The Shacklady Mosquito book doesn’t even get the technical side right! A good example he says Oboe was fitted to FB VI Mosquitoes:confused:  & in the back of the book, under Mosquito Squadron, 105 Squadron gets a slight Mosquito mention. The last sentence says “Fought the desert war & eventually received the Mosquito B IV”. As for my other favouite Squadron, 109, it’s only mention is “Luqa 1944”. Nothing in either entry about Pathfinders or Oboe etc! There are typos, words missing, wrong mk’s given, it is just so bad it’s appalling:mad:

Hi Kev,
Been doing some research on KA 317 & found it listed as crashed, prior to delivery. I can’t find any other details, than this. However, I’ve e-mailed another Mossie Anorak, who might just be able to help. So we’ll see what he can tell us.
Cheers for now,
Neilly
ps. Forgot to add the sources – Mosquito by Sharp & Bowyer & British Aircraft Serials 1912-63 by D Robertson

Hi McChesney,
I have some info. on 150 octane fuel. However, it’s Mosquito related, not Spitfire. I’m not sure how relavant it is, but I can send it to you no prob. Send me a PM with your e-mail address, if you want the info.

How about FIDO. This ingenoious system saved hundreds of bomber crews lives, in foggy conditions.

Hi Chris,
I’ll vote for a bit of formation flying. We’ll have to meet up. My brother in law lives in Gillingham. So, next time we’re down I’ll let you know. I used to deliver to Safeways RDC, Aylesford & I got one of the guy’s there, interested in gliding. He’s into slope soaring, so I’ll not only will I have to bring a glider but probably the C 160, too.:D

And now we know it works! The engine part of Freddie. A Stu Mackay 45 cc engine & silencer. 6.8 hp & turns a 22″x10″ 3 blade prop at 6,180 rpm.

Here we go yet again. Picture at less than 30 Kb.
Hopefully it should show me try not to get my fingers in the props, as I adjust fuel mixture:D

Cheers for that Snapper. I wasn’t aware of the problem. Sometimes to many posts come up at the same time & I don’t get chance to read them all.
All the best,
Neilly
Hi Rob,
Thanks for all the info. However, for some reason NTLWorld won’t let me into ftp. My eldest son is back from Uni. next week, dso he can have a look.
I would still like to know WHY we can’t post piccies, on the Forum! Come on WebMaster, sort it or tell us what we’re doing wrong!!!
Cheers,
Neilly
Hi Rob,
Your picture looks great, the explanation sounded good, too. Now tell us in English how you post a picture ( for those of us who are computer illerates!).
Cheers,
Neilly
