Hi there, Campers:cool:
There’s only one, for yours truly – The Mosquito (no surprises there!).
However, seeing as I’ve been away for a few days & not done any postings, I’ll have to have a second choice, too! That’s gotta be a single engine aeroplane, which just has to be either a Tempest V or Typhoon. Oh, sod it – both of them:p
Cheers,
Neilly
Hi Hatton,
Yep, it will be a flying model. I was hoping Freddie would fly this year, but time is going by so fast that it’ll probably be early next year (Bloody good job I wasn’t on the original DH design team or the Mosquito prototype would’ve probably just about made the Korean War!:p )
Cheers,
Neilly
Hi Ant,
Thanks for the site. Some superb looking models. I’ve almost finished my C160 & I’m hoping to get it into the air next week (time & Mrs Neilly permitting!).
As for Freddie, still waiting for the engines & silencers to come back. The canopy is nearly complete, all the inner frame is in place, side blister windows are made (lots of burnt fingers & mega swearing!:p ). So the cockpit will be the next bit to get on with. Most of the bits & pieces, instrument panels, pilots seat, radios etc., are made, just waiting to be glued in. When I have some more piccies I’ll post them.
Cheers,
Neilly
I thought someone (can’t remember who) said this was a Historical Aircraft Forum, not lost & found forum. Give it to the Old Bill & let them deal with it!!! But then again this Forum is starting to degenerate:mad:
Shouldn’t the type ‘B’ roundels be on top of the wing? :p
Me thinks, you lot have been overdosing on Monty Python:p
& of course it would never happen to a Mossie……. Doh!!!!!:p
Hi All,
Thought this might interest – Anything a Spitfire can do, a Mosquito could usually do it better:p
Fred Offord’s specialist trick was to balance a stationary Mossie, on it’s mains

I got in from work, last night, fired up the machine & then couldn’t find the words. I’m still very sad, my thoughts have been for the families of the aircrew & I truely hope they were told, before they saw the accident on TV. I’m still full of disgust & outrage that Skynews could do such a thing. News Channel of the Year, it proclaims on their back drop – what a sham!!!

Hi Webmaster,
Thanks Guys n’ Gals for getting the forum up & running again.

Don’t forget the BLOODY Step ladders!!!!!!:p
Hope you all have a great time.

Hi Steve,
From your posts, it’s not clear why Tim has put the Beaufighter up for sale. It seems, from what you said earlier, that it was more a place to keep it rather than financial. If this is so, how about contacting Elvington Museum. Tony Agar has been there for years restoring his Mosquito & there’s plenty of room in their large hanger. I’m sure a Beaufighter would look great there, too.
I’m with Moggy on the restoration bit, don’t mention the static!!!!!:p
Cheers,
Neilly
I’ve seen pictures of Mosquitoes, coming home with ships masts & the occasional chimney pot, stuck in the fuz, but a B-29 with a complete TV station, that’s a new one:p

Hi All,
I seem to recall that the yellow could be seen 5 miles away. I’ll try & find the article. It was only a couple of weeks ago, so I should be able to find it.
I thought this was an interesting print, as I’ve never seen type C1 roundels on the wing of an aeroplane, before. Picture comes from the recently published Combat Colours, No.6 (no need to tell which aeroplane :p )

Neilly
Hiya,
I also read recently, that the yellow band could been seen at far greater distances than the red, white & blue. Don’t know how true this is?
