Galdri,
I think you’ll find it was a 57 mm gun under the nose of a Mosquito. The weight of the shell was 6 lbs. The Mossie carried 25 shells & had a fire rate of 20/min.
The main problem of fitting a big calibre gun to a metal aeroplane, is metal fatigue around the gun mounts. This, because the wood absorbed the recoil better, was something the Mosquito didn’t have a problem with.

DIY??????? I can’t fault you on that one! The only DIY I enjoy is work with balsa wood!

Hi Ya Snapper,
If you can stop the country eating, at the week-end, then maybe I can come out to play! The life of a truck driver? & YES it sucks!!! Unfortunately I have to work ever other Saturday.
How’s this for a point of view?

RE: TFC Mosquito
Hi All,
There’s an FB VI, that’s supposed to be, being rebuild in California, I don’t know much about. The Mossie reg is PZ 474.
Why the Americans would want yet another Mosquito, they have several that have been in long term storatage as it is!!! Add to them the Canadians & there more Mossies in storage there than in the UK!
If TV959 goes, I for one will be very sad, but I guess that’s the power of the ‘Greenback’. Sickening isn’t it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Heads Up – 17th Feb
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-02-03 AT 09:05 AM (GMT)]Hi Moggy,
Yes, I saw the Lanc., too. I’d taped the prog. & did a quick rewind, just to check my eyes were not deceiving me!
Although I was quite impressed with the film of the Shelhaus Raid. I did think that some of the details were a bit ropey, on various aircraft/events. Plenty of Tempests in the Typhoon slot, too!

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up
Hi All,
I used to build plastic models, but could never get the realism that some of you manage to get. So, flying models became the order of the day! I started with a Keil Kraft Hurricane, control line model & eventually progressed onto radio controlled glider & then power.
At present I have several full competition gliders & a number of what we call PSS models. These are basically, models based on real aircraft & flown off big hills! I have a Mosquito FB VI(surprise, surprise!), F 15 & Hawk. On the power side, I’ve got a C-160 & a nearly built Mosquito B IX, with a Hawker Tempest V still in it’s box. I’ll start this one if & when I ever get the Mossie built
