Thanks guys. Alan, the models, apart from the Vulcan, are all weathered. The Lightning is very realistic. The silver paint used on it should have a lacquer over it – to protect it from dirt. So, any dirt stains stick to the paint. The Vulcan is very new and has taken quite a long time to build. This year its planned to fly it in the white finish then repaint it at the end of 2013 into the colour we’re used to seeing XH558 in.

Happy New Year to all,
Neil
Thanks guys – good comments always appreciated.
Happy New Year to you all,
Neil
Gotta agree with Aces, DH, you’ve got some superb shots – I do like the 2 109’s together.
Hope you have a good 2013,
Neil
Unfortunately, Robbo, I have everything I need to finish the Tempest off. So, I don’t even have much of an excuse.
Hi All,
Harriers! I love aircraft that have lumps and bumps on their airframe (with the exception of the Mosquito – best looking aeroplane ever, in my book!) – the Harrier fits the bill perfectly. Cottesmore is only 25 minutes down the road, so I have plenty of Harrier pics. We’re now up to the Canon 7D days.

Happy New Year to all,
Neil
Hi Robbo,
The Tempest is about 75% complete, but I haven’t done anything to it for a couple of years. I had to re-do the centre section because the original plans were wrong – it was 2″ short. Now, I have to work out the undercarriage geometry. The other things I have to do is remake all the flaps etc and I lost a bit of interest. Unfortuneately, the photography then took over and I don’t have enough time. One of these days I’ll finish it.
Happy New Year,
Neil
Hi Ant,
Thanks, mate – good to see some of the old lags are still here:)
Re: the Wellington’s colour scheme. If you cast your mind back to the Tempest repaint – that was put back into its last squadron colours. At the time the IWM said this would be future policy – whether it still is………..I hope not!
Happy New Year to all,
Neil
Hi WP,
Apologies for a slow reply – been away at the outlaws for Christmas. The Lightning is hanging vertically in the Cosford Cold War Museum. It’s got good company with a Hunter and a Sabre.

Hope everyone has had a good Christmas (hangovers all gone:diablo: ) – hope you all have a Happy New Year,
Neil
Anon – in a word – No!
Hi Crop Sprayer,
Sorry mate, I don’t – I have this Tiggie picture which I like

And this one is not quite a crop spray, but it’s smokin’
I’m cheating on this one, because its a half scale model:diablo:
TTFN,
Neil
Thanks guys for the comments – always appreciated.
I have a lot of catching up to do, so I thought I’d post some pictures from a few years ago up to the present day. The quality of the older pictures isn’t that good as my camera kit then wasn’t a good as it is now.

Really dark conditions – a bit to much for the old Canon 50D to handle well – but it was an awesome afternoon. One which I’ll never forget – an F-15 going past and less than 50ft away – exhilerating is a word that comes to mind!

Burners lit – don’t know how many car and house alarms they set off – quite a few!!!

Best Hurricane display I’ve ever seen – Victory Show 2009.

One of these days I might re-visit some of these old pictures and see if I can do a better job now, with CS6. If you guys get bored with these old pictures please let me know.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
TTFN,
Neil
Hi All,
From what I could see the outer wing sections, tailplane and fin looked pretty much refurbished – ready for recovering. The only control surface I saw was the rudder and that looked done. The Wellington wing centre sections (inc rear part of engine nacelles) are at the back of the outer panels. I couldn’t get in a postion to get a good picture, but they appear to be complete, too.
Another thing to mention (no pictures – apologies) outside the hangar there are now two poly-tunnels. These are ready to receive the Dornier Do17. The airframe has to be treated – in the same way as the Mary Rose. The salt, crustations etc. all have to be removed before the rebuild can start.
TTFN,
Neil
Ooops, The Hangar spelling was total brainfade – apologies:o
You have some fabulous pictures, Flygirl. That first Vulcan shot is one of the best I’ve seen.
TTFN,
Neil
Hi Francisco,
Thanks for the link – the colour plates are really good. There are a couple I quite like. Still not 100% decided, but got plenty of time for that. Sometimes I decide on which aircraft to build almost straight away, but I think this one might take sometime.
TTFN,
Neil
