These are really good. Thanks guys.
P.S.DaveLeesFanClub, r u kiddin?
About which bit? Being a fan of Dave Lees or about Janie being banned. Both, sadly, are very true.
Sorry Janie is unable to respond. I have been informed that she has been banned from the forum for seven days from yesterday. The first person to receive this punishment, no less. No explanation was given.
it seem that we here in America are held to a certain stander when it comes to certain stuff while the same thing goes on across the pond and their is’nt as much as a whisper of discontent.
Do you have view on the colorful (spelling intentional) painting of Reno Racers or the Red Baron Pizza Steamans? Please describe this U.S. “certain stander”?
Thank you.

With regards to the Alutian tiger head – you seem to know a bit about it – I’ve studied a lot of old photographs of these heads and, despite the fact that they are very similar, they are all different. Would you happen to know which one in particular TFC copied? It seems to me to be an amalgamation of a few of them. Any ideas?
Snapper – A question for you: If you were given the opportunity to fly in Tom F’s TF51 would you refuse? And, if you did take up the offer, would you still continue to slander it?
Hey. You don’t really have to answer that. I’m not that mean. It just seems a shame to me that because a particular aircraft was not responsible for killing Germans in the 40s means it has to be shunned.
Sure it’s fun to show off that you know what you are talking about, but, hey, its a growling beast with a Merlin in it. Give me that to a Cessna 152 any day!!
No hard feelings.
Changing the subject slightly, there is an annual event where old VETs get to fly again. They are always looking for volunteer pilots.

I can strongly recommend it.
I think you know the answer to that one already, Sparky
Take lots of money. Gamble at the breakfast table – I’m serious.
You will get right up close to the aircraft on the ground. In the air, with the exception of the T6s the aircraft spread out around the course. This really does not matter. Take binoculars if you can. The atmosphere is electric. You don’t need to get there particularly early. There are aerobatic displays before the races and several races of different classes each day. The crowd line is the closest you will get to the flying. There is a pylon out to the east which is outside the showground. I went there once, but prefered the showground. The aircraft circle behind the leader before the leader climbs away and the race begins. This is one opportunity to get the aircraft closer together for a photo. If you look at the photos taken by others in the past, you will find it is quite difficult to photograph. I think the activities on the ground, which is akin to Formula 1 pits is more fascinating.
Gamble in the evenings.
Don’t forget to walk down the the Reno High Streeet. I don’t know if they still do it, but they used to fly static display aircraft into Reno International Airport and taxi them to the high st. at 2am and then just park them there for the week – yes – in the street!
The races are not at Reno International Airport, but at Stead airport to the north.
Gamble.
Make friends and get invited to the after-show parties. All the hotels in the area are decked out to receive aviators. Take lots of money!! My Repetition is intentional! Have fun.
