Hmm I think the Mig-31 would fit in there.
Just how many TU-160 s are currently in service?
Be lucky
David
I think more than a dozen, possibly 14 or so.
I’m more interested in how many Tu-22M3’s are in service alongside Su-24’s.
I know there is a modernization program planned on the Su-24’s.
Any plans to modernize Tu-22M3’s underway? If so how many are to be modernized?
I would think they can get more life out of the Tu-22m3, it would be sad if they could not.
What about clouds and other weather?
UFO, Unidentified Flying Object.
Picture shows an unidentified object that is flying.
It couldn’t get more traditional…
Cheeky. Ah well you know what I meant.
Weird shape, that is for sure. Not your traditional UFO.
Poor excuse to back the C-17. I could think of many other reasons that hold more water on why we need these transports. This guy is just spewing anti-russian rhetoric. Totally unreasonable, and potientialy damaging to our relations in Europe. As for improving the troops conditions? He thinks trucks? This guy is a retired brigadier general and he’s mocking the situation by saying more trucks?
How about new tanks, How about new Helo’s. How about expanding our infantry and reservers. He thinks Defense spending has nothing more to offer to our troops? There are hundreds of things the Canadian forces need that they dont have. This guy is a moron when it comes to public speeches. I hope Harper cans O’Conner as he really doesn’t seem to have a grasp on what we really need in terms of our military.
By the way, I support purchasing the 4 C-17s I just think his reasoning is laughable.
Stupid, its always better to have refuelling capability. Keeping them serviceable for another 2 years is no big deal. Also retiring the Halifax by 2014seems premature as they can still fill many roles provided they are upgraded.
Of course expanding the Canadian navy seems like wishful thinking.
I’m going to order it this week.
Actually the chart in the first post is wrong in some cases.
For instance the first radars I beleive were installed on night fighter prop planes in wwII like the BF-110 or P-61 even the B-17 had radar installed at somepoint during the war. On the chart it says 2nd gen was 1st radar. Anyways, I think the whole generation idea is overused by the media and manufacturers and does not define the aircraft. What defines the aircraft is its capabilites and how well it does them. It can be lacking in some areas and excel in others.
apparently yes it is an AESA, but it is a prototype/technology demonstrator variant rather than an example of an actual production service ready version. That is why it does not have the 20 degree look up.
When I first looked at it, it doesnt seem to have any moving parts. Which could mean its an AESA. As for production or prototype, it’s probably just a demonstration of what it will look like. They would have announced if they had a production AESA ready.
Awsome pics, thanks for finding these. They really improved the cockpit on the Mig-35, now all thats left to do is throw an AESA on.
I take it the this is the first Mig-29 SMT for the RusAF?
There isn’t enough WWII air combat movies as it is. Sure many of the historical planes are no longer with us or flyable. With the level CG has reached in the last few years though, they could even manage a Eastern front movie rather well. Yet Hollywood for some reason thinks “Sky Captian and the World of Tommorow” is a better idea.
As for modern day fighter jets, would be nice to see a movie in a historical setting rather than some BS plot showing off explosions and cheesy action.
.
The categorical denial of the incident by the USN speaks volumes. I’d imagine their language would have been couched in more evasive terms if there were anything to the story. Further, now that the USN is on record, the Iranians could in theory release images of the carrier taken during the drone’s flyby…anyone willing to make a bet?
ZING!!!
Good call, is the USN saying anything now?
OK so lets see what Venezuela has bought recently, 100,000 AK-103s? (great rifles for that climate). Mi-8s Mi-17s? Su-30Mk2s. Not a bad Military force at all. I remember awhile ago before the Su-30 purchase was confirmed that they were also looking at Mig-29SMTs. That is probably not the case anymore. In terms of attack helos, what do they have? Any chance of them getting Mi-28s?
Chavez has every right to be pissed off at the current US administration. They had a coup and assasination attempt against him, if we were in his shoes we’d be yelling the same anti-Bush administration rhetoric. Botched CIA operations in South America have done nothing but give more supporters for Leftest Nations. Look at what happened in Ecuador just recently.
