These seem to be Alpha Jets from Portugal to me.
DHC4: Australia, Malaysia, probably Kenya.
For DHC-4, I think there are just some in Australia and perhaps (servicable?) one still in Costa Rica. Malaysia phased theirs out some time ago and replaced them by new IPTN CN-235M.
One Fighter Squadron with MiG-23 at Sanaa (operational?)
MiG-23??The Yemeni Air force have not any MiG-23
What I know former South Yemen got 25 MiG-23BN in 1981….
Does anyone have an Orbat???
With some web information, guess-work und Google Earth I estimate:
One Fighter Squadron with MiG-29 at Sanaa
One Fighter Squadron with F-5 at Sanaa
One Fighter Squadron with MiG-23 at Sanaa (operational?)
Two Fighter Squadrons with MiG-21 at Hodeidah and Al Anad
One Attack Squadron with Su-22 at Sanaa
One Transport Squadron with Il-76, C-130, An-12, An-24 and An-26 at Sanaa
Two Helicopter Squadrons with Mi-24, Mi-8, AB-212 and AB-206 at Sanaa
One Flying Training School with L-39C and Zlin 242 at Sanaa (unclear)
I believe those are Kh-58 anti-radar missiles, but I could be mistaken.
I say too it’s definitely an AS-11 Kilter (Kh-58) anti-radar missile. More or less the Russian equivalent to the HARM.
The painted colors on this Mi-17 are definitely Tajikistan. Would be possible because this country operates a (tiny) air force consisting of Mi-17 and Mi-24.
In the last few years, Sweden went for helicopters like the A-109 and the NH-90. So I’d suppose IF they are going to buy any new combat helicopter in the next few years this would be the Eurocopter Tiger. Sweden seems clearly to favour the European solutions.
By the way: the Su-30s are acquired to replace the F-16. Does anyone know how good is the availability of the FAV’s Mirage 5V and VF-5A/B?
By the time those Su-30 are operational, how many Typhoons do you think we’ll have up & running?
Nice thinking but you have to bring those Typhoons or Rafales down to Latin America first… :p
I wouldn’t take Chavez that easy.
Venezuela still has AMX-13s which were designed in 1946. Actually Latin American armies are among the worst equipped and outdated of the world. Hell, even Angola has Su-27 and Su-24s.
This is not THAT right. Venezuela is one of the more modern armies in Latin America. Mainstay of their tanks is the AMX-30V besides AMX-13C.90 (modernized, new 90 mm gun) and the Scorpion 90 (also modernized with 90 mm gun).
Of course their army is much inferior to the US, but I doubt that the Netherlands (-> Antilles) could defeat them on their own.
The IAF is also helping its Tajik counterpart to retrofit its Soviet-era fighters while Indian civilian and military personnel are teaching the Tajik servicemen English.
Soviet-era fighters in Tajik service?? AFAIK Tajikistan has just five Mi-24 and ten Mi-8 in service… 😮
Never ever saw this roundel before…seems to be recently introduced by Equatorial Guinea. Can anyone identify the exact colors? I’m not sure whether there is a fourth color in the center of the roundel.
I only see green-white-black and perhaps blue or sth like that.
Montenegro has only one air base on its territory – Podgorica. I suppose they’ll get some helicopters and light transports. There is no direct threat so they won’t need combat aircraft. The mainstay of air defence will be built up by light SAMs I think. Or they make it like Slovenia and go for the AMI to guard their airspace.
Their navy will just be built up of small patrol vessels, nothing more I suppose.
Not really true. Slovakia ceased Su-25 operations some years ago and sold several aircraft to Armenia.
Yes it is. It is operated by:
Indian (10), Cambodia (2), Kazakhstan (24), Republic of Congo (3), Mexico (2), Peru (2), Russia (53), Venzuela (4 ordered), Belarus (14), Cyprus (1 ordered)
