Yes, let us not make sweeping unsubstantiated generalisations about those at the bottom of society…
…when we can make sweeping unsubstantiated generalisations about the ‘ruling classes’!
Perhaps not to Dickensian times, but I just feel that given what the politicians actually say when interviewed this country is being run to suit some and the others can “get off their behinds and do something”
and if they can’t do that then tuff.
If you would kindly share with me of how this country can move forward to the benefit of all under this coalition or any other combination I would be very interested.
I have gone off topic slightly, I am sorry but the ruling class do have a responsabilty to ensure a duty of care to all.
The whole thing is hyped like mad just to pander to popular misconceptions.
Moggy
This is the worriing part about this. If its said enough more people will believe it and I worry that conflict will arise based on hype.

Please, please, please stop all this “I’m better than them because I am a good citizen I work, and pay my taxes, bla, bla, bla….”
Instead of pointing the finger and adding to the divisions in this country,
Think on this:-
Are those people claiming benefits because “they can work the system” any different to those companies and individuals who avoid paying their taxes by “working the system”? i.e. loopholes in the tax laws.
The government calls them benefit cheats; well surely if there is proof that those on benefits are cheating, why don’t the relevant authorities prosecute them?
I think the government purposely works to divide our society to distract us from the real state of this country. Using; ‘immigrants’ and ‘benefits cheats’ and ‘the workshy.’ While insidiously taking us back to Dickensian times where the ruling classes made fortunes and everyone else can survive as best they can.
I think this government actively encourages the natural human reaction to blame someone else for all our ills. They are playing a very dangerous game.
For example I think last summer riots were a direct response to what was perceived as an injustice, namely a shooting dead of a youth.
But I also think this was the spark to a build up of frustrations that the same section of society was being blamed, and then targeted to solve, the financial crisis in which they had had no control, did not instigate it, and yet no one else has even been held to account for getting us in this situation.
Only in the USA did some financial bosses get hauled over the coals.
People, that includes you and me, will do anything, given the right set of circumstances. Admittedly some may stop at starting fires and looting, but just taking some of the comments on these forums, whether wind ups or not, if someone has thought it someone will do it.
The point of this post?
Well I know it’s satisfying to get all wound up about those that do not pull their weight etc, etc, but in this day and age please think carefully about what ‘fire’ you could be adding to. In a world of mass individual communication, there seems to be a lot of intolerance and ignorance still around.
Of course all on this forum are exempt from that last sentence.

Having read the posts after my peices I feel better now. I do fall into the trap of losing a bit of distance to what is said in the media, but I feel a bit of balance and common sence has been restored.
Thank you.

I am an idealist. Sure I am living in a better world than my father did. But sometimes my ideal world clouds out the reality of humanaity and I loose patience with the fact that while we live in a democracy, which is good dont get me wrong I do not want to change it. I just get so frustrated with the way the various governments keep changinging the things they can like health and education and welfare and are always pointing out the faults of its citizens instead of really having co ordinated planing, is that really too much to ask? Do we really have to wait until Jesus returns and knocks sence into humanity, including me? We seem to tack back and forth side to side instead of having a target and steering towards it. So any cheering up you can give me, would be most welcome. I try not to think too much but sometimes it just burst out of me the frustratiuon pain and suffering that is around me every day and on here.life is such a heartbreak.

What a sad thread about a light ship with an historic provenence is left to rot away. But there is also hope and optimismism in the fact that strangers can share info and suggestions about ways to save her. My only suggestion is could the consortiums that restored the SS Great Britain and the Cutty Sark be resurrected to help restore this Lightship because of her history and unique use of two power systems and as she is made of iron?
At the moment the weather on BBC is shown for England Wales Scotland & Northern Ireland, but not Southern Ireland. Does a yes vote mean that Scotland will not be mentioned in the weather forecast anymore?
the map will be blank from the border up!
Photo three… does this refer to the baked beans provided in the voyage?;)
My heart does rule my head, I am deeply sad that Scotland did not ignore Alex Salmond and the SNP. Surely this is creating a backward step. We should be building a fairer Britain, finding ways to unite not squabling over what ooh our financial houses will desert you etcetc. It all appeares so petty and childish. The Scottish voters should remember that who will be deciding things for them – Politicians and my feelings about polititions is they would sell their mother down the river at the drop of a proverbial hat. I suppose it was ever thus. Sorry not all polititions some are dedicated to their constituants and must get as disolusioned as I am but they carry on because if they didn’t then there would be no one to raise those issues that concern the constituants.
Do they allow you to take children?
From the very first post and all the following posts it is obviously true, that come the judgement, there will be very few who will be able to plead complete ignorance of God. Which is something to be thankful for. Alleluia.
I assumed the tug boat was just one of the flottila but after seeing the last post I looked again I saw the tow rope and now I want to know too.
A pilot would be on the bridge of the paddle steamer, so its not to guide the Waverley. Perhaps the paddles stir up the mud too much? Probably just broken down or saving fuel? To help with manouvering?
Does anyone have the answer please?
Based on the above o level questions, can anyone tell me, in detail, how the much critised for dumbing down questions, differed? or should I start a new thread?
A balated best wishes to Chuck Berry. For me he plays authentic Rock and Roll. I too was dubious about liking him after I read about those things he did in his life but in the end the music won me over. I visit his web site now and again to read how he is and am surprised and pleased that he is still rockin’.
Another star I grew up with so to speak has left the world.
That was a nice touch repeating the words from his song.
