This film was shown on BBC2 last Sunday@ 11:30 am.
I have seen it before but not for a long time. so I watched it. I loved it, I thought I heard them mention cancer but he was told he had eight months to live. It was a very sad film towards the end. I had tears in my eyes at the end and I am 65! You’d think I was past all that! The sadness for me was heightened by the hope for the future portrade in the film compared with the spin and financiers and the politicians we have to put up with today.

Would the fly by wire Typhoon be able to fly in close formation with another fly by wire Typhoon?
Would each of the computers on each aircraft be in sinc ie the adjustments the computers on each aircraft were making would they be identical?
What I am thinking is without the visual ref of the other plane what would stop the computers adjustment to maintain flight push the plane too close to the other one?
The pilot might not have the time to overide.
I know the f16 flies in close formation so it must work but I worry about these things you know?

Concerning the Reds I would also like to add that we must not forget that there are 9 aircraft being flown as one. Not just straight and level but maintained through out the manouvers.This magnificent display of skill and dedication we have come to take as the norm. I know I am speaking to the converted but I just wanted say it.
France and Italy fly 9 ship displays.(does one of them fly a 10 ship?)
Anyway they do appear to have a bit more pazzaz whereas the reds appear as the steady, accurately flown display. (Not that the french and Italians aren’t accuratley flown of course.)
Having seen the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels (many years ago now) I felt they formed up for crowd centre, then repositioned behind then flew by with the new formation but they were close!, and flying a bigger aeroplane.
As someone previously said what was wow yesterday becomes oh not again today.

I know it comes out of our taxes but I rather it spent on helping fellow humans than blowing others to bits.

I trust they will also put the speed limit signs up as frequently as the cameras. The times I have been on a road keeping my speed down only to discover I could have done another 10 mph.
I suppose it is good for safety but I use a car to get places. If I have got all day or want to site see I’ll take a bus.
Also if the camera is meant to slow traffic why do they cover them up with the words “camera not working”? Surely telling drivers is not working defeats the object completely? In fact adds to the suspician that there just for making money. Also since the government has withdrawn some funding safety suddenly is not so important and the cameras have been withdrawn by some councils.
