Thankyou kindly longshot. I wish I had taken pics of them flying over when I lived in Southall now. Oh well!
That book you mentioned above sounds good – do you recommend it? I might ask for it for my birthday in 2 weeks
Nice one! It all looks so different around there now!
Do you have any shots of planes landing on 23?
Thanks 🙂 Thats another lovely photo 🙂 I assume for 05 to be used gales had to be blowing from a north/northeasterly direction?
I read somewhere that runway 05 was last used around 1991 and decommissioned shortly after. I had always thought that end had gone before I was born in 1984.
longshot,
Nice pics there. I’ve seen that Northwest B707 shot before! Great stuff. Where abouts did you take them from?
Perhaps someone should start a thread on Heathrow’s runway 05/23 with pics in it 🙂
Always loved seeing B727’s!
23 landings were great to watch. They used to come right over my house, they were pushed all over the place, some even elected to go around before passing the southall gasworks!
Much to my surprise I remember seeing a Monarch B757 make an approach over my house, it went around and never came back so I assume it made its way in else where.
Yeah, runway 27L was always an option unless winds exceeded a constant 35kts. I believe both runway 23 and 05 had no ILS. The Southall Gasworks got huge LH titles (they are still there) as a visual reference so pilots didnt make the mistake of landing at Northolt!
Interesting view on it, Vee. I must addmit i’ve never really gone into the whole ‘other dimension’ idea or anything. I suppose I just leave that alone because its one of them that has too many what if’s about it.
I just stick to my idea that I dont know who flies them, I dont know what they are, but the object I saw in 1990 was pretty unique, large and had great flying characteristics!
I havent yet seen anything while i’ve been out flying planes myself, but I guess the day may come one day.

Ahh! Regarding to Aliens visiting earth, I really don’t know. I dont think about that one too much as its too much of a mine field really.
By the way, the forum seems abit slow for me too today.

Why would a discussion about UFO’s turn into a discussion about faith, Creaking door? I’m not having a go, i’m just wondering if you meant ‘faith’ as in religion?
I saw a UFO back in around 1990 or 1991 when I lived in Southall, West London. I also saw some objects I couldnt really explain in the summer of 1998 when having a BBQ at my aunts house in Hayes. I’m not religious or anything. I dunno what they were, but they were interesting enough, especially what I saw in 1990.

What about the plane that crashed in Southall, wasnt that from Heathrow? It crashed very close to where my grandad lived at the time!
Speaking of runway 23L in a few posts above, I have many nice memories of planes flying over my house when I lived under the flightpath for that runway, although by then it was only runway 23. Lots of wind and rain, even B747’s got blown about in those winds. Concorde always looked nice and stable though!
haha 😀
Lovely 🙂 It looks like it was a great evening 🙂
