    Su33/ J15 can’t use AL31FN, no matter what series.

But we have to believe what we see, espacially when the J15 prototype 554 changed the engine from same naval model of WS10H to an AL31F series

So far it only reported the 2011 has undergone low speed taxi run, no maiden flight of 2011 prototype.

2011 features several modifications from the previous “tech demoers”, as noted in your post

Of course it does mind, for the same reason, we now know the so called SAC J31 prototype is actually the 1st “tech demoer” for project 310 ( 31001).

Finally I think we are getting closer to the real J-20 ‘2011’ or ‘2003’ … come on, and if You like “just leave Your hat on” !

    Deino

It’s difinitely not “2003”, because the incoming one is the first “prototype”. 20-1-1 means J20 ( 1st 2 digits), the third digit 1 stands for “prototype”, o stands for “tech demoer”, and last digit stands for number of the prototype.

How many “tech demoers” built? it’s difinitely more than the “2001”, and “2002” we used to see, because one of the 2002s have been re-numbered to 2004 in CFTE for the correct numbering.

J-15 using no ordinary AL31F engine, but series 3 with “boosting” mode in case the shipborne fighter needs re-“take off”, if initial landing on CV fails.
Also, naval engines have different specs for corrosion preventing, operating conditions etc.

And only Russia can provide this AL31F cep3 for J15. now is the picture clearer?

    Plus, Mr. Obama didn’t help………..

Yes, he should have stopped NSA sniffing activities when he first elected. He ate his own words

    1) i think so. at first i thought both tpes would be produced at same time. DSI intakes somehow affect super sonic flight and bring down the top speed, therefore compromises its ability in interception missions. But with the weight reduce, better radar, and probably lower cost on the air frames, i found it hard to convince anybody to continue the parallel manufacturing of J10A.

2)i’d rather believe time has been wasted on engines. I can imagine this: “I want WS10As on the J10Bs!” said the official, “We tested it on the J10B, and they just work totally fine with all 3 test flights”, answered the chief engineer. “Then the WS10As works great with the new planes!” “Sure they are.””Now deliver us the Russian engines, we have the 1st block to produce.””OK”.

Your 2nd part surely sounds vivid, but no WS10A for J10B, if the 2nd lot of J10b gets indigenous engine, that will be WS10B

    2 questions:

1.) Does this mean that production of the old J-10A will soon be discontinued in favor of this variant ?

2.) Why did it take so long to test this variant and get it into production ?

Hardly can say AESA upgraded J10B is slow, considering even now the EF2000 still no AESA version in service, and since when we heard EF2000 going to have AESA?
