For deep strike and all wether attack, two seaters seem to rule. F-15E / I / K / S, F/A-18F (will also be used as a two seat fighter I guess), F-111, Mirage 2000D / N, Su-24, Su-37 and although retired, Bucanneer and A-6 Intruder.
Isn’t deep strikes at low altitude a thing of the past? I reckon the brits had a nice go in the beginning of Operation Desert storm but quickly changed their tactics. There’s plenty of small agile air to air missiles on the market today – and that’s why I think that CAS/COIN or whatever will be a no-show in the future.
Or perhaps CAS/COIN will be a job for the UCAVs, operated by troups on the ground close to the line of fire.
