Setter, I am intrigued you list 2 Osprey. Can you enlighten us some more on these airframes?
Sorry Terran. Let me explain in more detail. In the artic in the last paragraph is says as flows “The INS currently has one carrier, the INS Viraat, which was given a refit last year but will be withdrawn in 2008, whilst the INS Vikramadiya (formerly the Soviet Navy’s Admiral Gorshkov) is being prepared to enter service the same year.”
What I can’t find in all the information so far is what king of carrier was the Admiral Gorshkov.
I hop that I have now explained it better.
Thanks for the all the information, one and all. But what I still don’t understand is, that is the ex Soviet Navy’s Admiral Gorahkov that is to enter service with the Indian Navy in 2008. See AFM May 2005 page 23 “India Turns Down Hawkeye”.
My records show 49 aircraft (& 1 Mircolight); of the following types.
1 Bell P-39
4 Curtiss P-40s (3xE 1xK & 1xN)
2 Focke-Wulf Fw189
2 Focke-Wulf Fw190 (1xA & 1xF)
7 Hawker Hurricanes
4 Hawker Typhoons
7 Ilyushin Il-2s
2 Junkers Ju87
1 Junkers Ju88
3 LAC EP9 Prospoctors
7 Messerschmitt Bf109s (3xE, 2xF & 1G)
3 Messerschmitt Bf110
1 Polikarpo Po-2
1 Pilatus P-2
2 Sako P-2 Krogujs
1 V.S. Spitfire
Most of the above aircraft where recovered as wrecks. But if I have got it wrong I am open to correction.
Evzen Vsetecka THANKS for all that information.
