It is particularly interesting beacause it apparently is not Neil Ellis’ well known Hind

Great find flex! I really don’t wanna be a Niger delta militant :diablo:
BTW is any Chinese-speaking person reading this thread who could contact the guy with the Sudanese pictures?
Apart from the one that acted as chase plane to Sukhoi’s Superjet first flight.
Ken
interesting, do you have a picture of it?
The last point is questionable and the more convincing answer is, it does depend on the related circumstances. Even the slowest COIN aircraft has problems to identify and target rebels. Just one of several possibilities. 😉

Well I was a little unclear I have to admit. I didn’t mean avionics in general but all stuff necessary for “conventional warfare” that causes aircraft prices to skyrocket but is of little use in COIN operations or even is a burden when it comes to such operations.
Cheap airplanes die quickly. Igla-S and QW-2 are both cheap and are being proliferated at an ever increasing rate.
Sorry but I have to disagree in strongest terms. Just because an aircraft is cheaper it doesn’t mean that it lacks countermeasure equipment.
The lower price can simply be caused by the lack of systems not necessary for the mud mover task. Good example: You have to bomb some insurgents, you have a Su-39 and a Su-35, which one do you choose? Of course you will chosse the Frogfoot. The Su-35 might be more expensive but that does not matter at all, as stuff like sophisticated radar and TVC are pretty useless for chasing AK-47 carrying rebels. Helicopters can’t replace COIN aircraft either.
Viet Cong A-37
Waah I’m so stupid I dind’t notice it’s a bis. Thanks for the correction. 🙂 Strange that a person who has got so many rare pictures of North Korean aircraft includes such a fake
I knew all pictures of North Korean Fishbeds show them bare metal but with smaller airforces I wouldn’t exclude exceptions, there simply have been too many surprises in the past…
Hi folks, would love to hear your thoughts on that one:
I know on the first look it seems to be a fake, judging from the color it’s a Chinese J-7 with a North Korean flag. But what baffles me a little is the source of this pic. it was taken from this youtube video:

faked pictures of military aircraft are nothing uncommon on youtube but this video shows exclusively real pics, even some quite rare ones.
like those PC7s mentioned before really weren’t
They were! Armed with gun pods, rocket pods and bombs. In the 1980s Guatemalan PC-7s were very busy bombing villages and formed the main combat asset only second to A-37s. Anyway is the exact Swiss law regarding such sales available anywhere?
Very nice to see some purchases that really make sense in the current situation. The only thing I ask me is how the PC-12 deal managed to get government approval. As far as I know in Switzerland it is illegal to sell armament to nations fighting wars (of course one can discuss how much sense that legislation makes and there were, of course, cases in which it wasn’t implemented i.e. Guatemalan and Iraqi PC-7s to name just a few examples)
MiGs from Mozambique..nice

Unfortunately taken from a very high angle, but still interesting enough to post it, well somewhat. An US mercenary next to his Angolan Su-25.
Nope it’s Guinea Bissau, afaik this picture was already postred here, Malian MiGs have their serial painted in black
Well this time not a post about military aicraft images but some useful software. Perhaps the things I tell you are well known but perhaps they are new to someone.
First I found a nice little feature called autocolor in Adobe Photoshop. This helps to remove nasty reddish appearances of older photgraphs as well as other color flaws. It also helps to brighten up bleak colors (works weay better than experimenting with saturation) Go to images: adjustment: auto color
I have to be frank sometimes it doesn’t work but often the results are great, here some examples:

Another program that revolutionized my way of saving images: double killer
It runs very fast and finds files you have two or more times on your hard drive (or a speicific folder) even if they have different names. That means when you are on a site with some images you already have and some you don’t have (happens frequently when browsing forum posts) simply save them when you aren’t sure and then run the program:

Nice one, what’s the source?
