It’s MUCH easier. Here’s my plan to get a small air force entirely for free ! :diablo:

    1. Convert to Islam, say that you want a Panafrican state
    +2 Mi-24 + 3 Mig-23 + 4 An-24s from Libya

    2. Call your opposition and the rebels who want to topple your autocratic government terrorists, invent some connections with El Quaeda
    +5 Cessna-337s +funding for 6-8 Mi-17s from the USA

    3. introduce free market policies, deploy 10 soldiers to Iraq
    +3 Ch-130s from the USA

    4. always express how deep the genocide 12 years ago did hurt and still hurts your country
+ enough money from naive European politicians to buy at least 2 more
    Mi- 24s

    5. Unfortunately that one doesn’t work anymore:
Bomb UNITA camps express your solidarity with the Angolan government
    + 2 Mig-23s form Angola

6 Promise a European or American Mining company that you will guard their mines in a neighbouring country which is driven by civil war
    + fundings for 2 more Mi-24s

    7. Place contracts with ELF claim that the opposition would place a contract with EXXON
    +2 Mi-24s +4Mi-8

It’s sad but that’s how things are working in the third world.

Originally Cuban Mig-17s were painted in NMF which was later changed to a blue green camo. The Mig on the very left of your picture seems to wear this camo. The whole thing with Nicaragua is still quite fishy, according to some sources Cuban Mig-21s were already ready to be delivered to Nicaragua but the Soviet Uniuon never gave it’s OK. On the other hand there’s a guy at A C I G forum (who usually is a very credible source) who says that Cuban Mig-21s were actually stationed in Nicaragua though only for a very short time. Supposedly the Sandinistas also made a P-51D and a A-26 flyable again.
Perhaps those Mig-17s were destined for Nicaragua and never delivered?
For all those interested here’s a small comparison of the Mig-17s with aSandinista T-33 seen on a scrapyard in Managua.

Curahee from what country are those Mig-17s? Their camo looks quite similiar to the one of Sandinista T-33s.

The pre-invasion airforce had some Mi-24As painted in a two tone green-gray sheme.

Chavez isn’t stupid, he won’t buy large amounts of fighter jets despite the fact that he’s quite afraid of an US invasion. He could buy 50 Su-30s and the Americans would still knock them out. Instead he builds up a people’s militia. What is the bigger threat to the USA, a few Su-30s which can be knocked out by Tomahawks and B-2s or 100 000 well armed leftist guerilleros trained for urban warfare? I think the answer is obvious. Perhaps he buys a few new fighter jets to replace the F-16s but nothing more.

Thanks for the Libyan Blinder SOC, really sad that it’s not operational anymore. Destroyed Iraqi Tu-22s and a Tu-16 at Al Taqaddum
