RE: The 757
yeah, I love the thrust of those RB211’s on take off in a 757.
It’s the one aircraft where you really feel the power (maybe apart from Concorde, but I haven’t been on it, so can’t comment)
RE: Msc course in City University
The Uni’s website is http://www.city.ac.uk also have a look at the UK University Application service for info on both applying, the course and the Uni http://www.ucas.ac.uk
RE: Do you think…
Andy, if you look on the inside cover, there’s a note that the editor welcomes any input/articles from readers.
So the opportunities are there.
As to the advertising of the forum, the AW website has been on the cover for over two years now, and if anyone had looked in, they’d have seen the forum.
Consequently, I’m not sure an additional publiscsing(sp) of teh forum would make any difference.
RE: Thanks !
it’s proabbly a case of Buzz having to few aircraft to service longer flights at the moment.
RE: New wall planner in new issue
so would you prefer they hadn’t given a wall chart?
That they’d repaid you with nothing?
RE: New wall planner in new issue
What exactly is your problem?
The wall planner is just a bonus. Are you saying you buy the magazine purely for free gifts?
I buy, and filled the questionnaire out, for News content, not quality of freebies.
RE: Wall planner
Yeah, I managed to get the new copy at WH Smith in Glasgow last night.
RE: Airline food
LX do good stuff, but I’ve not been impressed with the sandwich on BSL-LHR flights. It was way better when there was some competition with BA.
And what’s the excuse for not serving coffee on those flights? Not long enough to warrant turning the machine on, or something.
RE: New wall planner in new issue
Haven’t seen this month’s yet, but it sounds just like last year’s planner from your description.
RE: virgin
Virgin lost about 200 jobs (I think), and if I remember correctly, they parked some 747 claaics, although at the moment I think that’s just temporarily.
RE: Airline food
what airline’s have you been travelling on? I’ve never had to pay for drinks, they’ve always been complimentry.
RE: Crossair
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-11-01 AT 05:39 PM (GMT)]Jon, two years ago, I was working at Jet Aviation in Basel, when the Saab 340 crashed on take off from Zurich.
I was in the Crossair cantine daily for Lunch, and know how the whole place was affected by that incident. I’ve already mailed the condolence book (condolence@crossair.com).
I have read on Reuters that of the 29 pax and 5 crew, 24 bodies have been found, 2 people have been released from Hospital, and a further 7 are still being treated, 2 of them for serious injuries.
2 Crew are confirmed among the survivors, although there has been no information if they are cabin crew or flight crew.
The Pilot and Co-pilot were both Swiss citizens, and the Pilot had been with Crossair for 22 years, and was described as ‘very experienced’ by CEO Andre Dose.
I flew on an LX RJ100 as recently as August, on the BSL-ZRH shuttle.
Glad to hear you’re ok, our thoughts are with you and your colleagues.
Matt
RE: DAT Flies
Why should Thomas Cook buy Citybird? By doing that, Thomas Cook would inherit Citybird’s debts, and would risk the rest of teh company going bankrupt. Makes more (business) sense to start a new company.
Only drawback is thaose godawful JMC colours. Bring back B-CAL!
RE: ?
All I know is there was a Swiss company based in Geneva who did feasability studies about 4 years ago.
The company went out of business after a couple of months of operating 767’s on the route.
As to how a 737 could have a longer range than a 707 or DC-8, the answer is 35 years of technology and Engines that require less fuel.
RE: Crossing the Atlantic Ocean with two engines
umm, Scott, that is the only route used, apart from concorde and flights to South/Central America. (to/from the UK, anyway)
Because it’s the fastest route. Theoretically, if you took 3 rows of seats out, the 737-700 could fly nonstop GVA-JFK (Geneva – New York) commercially, although it would depend on weather conditions en route.
