    RE: Concorde on ice

This is the site of the BEA (Bureau d’Enquêtes Accidents – Air Accident Investigation Branch) and their preliminary report: http://www.bea-fr.org/anglaise/concorde-en.html

    RE: Concorde on ice

Mate, even living in Britain we doun’t hear anything. The problem is all the red tape the French involve in everything. Apparently, they haven’t even started re-constructing the plane, and the only member of teh Cabinet who hasn’t (yet) had talks with their French Counterpart is Tony Blair. I repeat:
ALL the REST of the CABINET have taken this up with the French, to no avail as yet.

Sorry mate, but the MD-11’s ugly as ****. If you want to include a tri-engined A/C, the L-1011 Tristar’s much more aesthetically pleasing.

    I Don’t know.
It probably depends which side of the pond you ask for an anwser about that.
I prefer RR, but then my uncle was a designer for them, involved in the Tay project.

    RE: BA`s Trent engines

When BA originally chose the 777-200, the Trent wasn’t avaliable. It has only become apparent over the last year that the GE90 would be the exclusive powerplant for the 777-200LR, and 777-300ER. However, personally, I don’t think BA will be interested in purchasing either variant in the near term.
Incidentally, it has happened before. BA’s 747-100s used PW JT9D engines, while the 747-200/747-400’s all used RR RB211’s.

    >By the the way, who will be the first 777-300 operator in Europe?!
AIr France have just ordered 10 (with 12 options) 777-300ER’s

    RE: BA World Traveller Plus

Much the same reasons. It being BA, and the onus they put on Premium rate passengers, I suspect it’s price will be around 30-40% higher than standard World Traveller prices, and hence not much lower than Club World prices (about 50% higher than World Traveller). Also, I have a chronic dislike of JFK. I’d much rather just go to EWR in Club World than JFK in World Traveller Plus.

    Favourite in what respect?
I’d rather travel in an A330, but the 777 is nice to look at.

    RE: BA World Traveller Plus

I believe that at the moment, it’s only avaliable on 747-400’s between LHR and JFK.
I wouldn’t go for it myself.

    RE: low cost airlines

yes, you’re right. However, Valujet didn’t go out of business. It suspended operations for a while after the crash, then changed it’s name, merging with a smaller Florida based company who’d previously held the name, and are currently introducing new aircraft. It’s new name? AirTran (launch customer of the 717)

    RE: is there a A-318??

Airbus are set to start producing the A318 over the next two years. It will be a 100 seater, also in the A320 family.
However, whether or not it will be accepted as such is at debate, as it will use PW4000series engines, whereas the rest of the A320 family use IAE V2500/CFM56 engines.
