Alastair, bring on the Scousers… they’re next on my rubbing it in campaign… 😉

this is getting boring, really…
Falklands… well, we were invaded (Why Argentina did this, I dunno… the most annoying thing is, it got Thatcher relected), so it was self defence. :s
Anyway… what would the US know about UN Vetos? They’ve only used theirs 53 times (by themselves). Coincidentally, 35 of them were all against resolutions critiscing Israel…

Well, frankly, I don’t see anything funny about the story, and I don’t see that the FA’s did much wrong… the plane can’t take off till the kid is strapped into his seat, and presumably there was some pressure from the flight deck about hurrying up so as not to miss the flight’s slot.
Ok, maybe a bit of a PR gaff not giving a refund or an alternative booking, but at the end of the day, it’s the Commander’s call, as he’s responsible for teh safety of all onboard.
Originally posted by T5 The point that I am trying to make is that there is no room for more low cost carriers in the UK.
Not sure I’d go along with that… in teh South East, certainly, but the further North you go, the less services are avaliable, and as none of the LOCO’s are nescesarily geared to transfers, it can be a right pain for non Londoners to use them…
What’s the big deal about an LX 330 being in the UK?
the 330 operates the morning ZRH-LHR-ZRH rotation.
anyway… Wär nit gümpt, dä isch kai Basler… 😉
I’ve been on the subway systems in…
Glasgow (antiquated)
London (overpriced)
Paris (decent)
Vienna (can’t really remember, was 12 years ago)
Rome (limited)
San Francisico (only one or two stops, though… wasn’t using BART)
New York (interesting experience…)
Montréal (reasonable)

Yeah, if you want a Kidney from the States… but if concorde was based this side of the pond, it would take about 4 hours there, 4 hours back, plus time to refuel that side, by which time it could have been transported subsonically, anyway…
And consider also that you wouldn’t just effectively be buying one ticket, you’d be buying the equivalent of the whole plane, for a return flight… what’s a concorde ticket for a roundtrip to New York? £3300 or something?
So, for this one kidney, which could potentially arrive sooner if it went subsonically, you’d pay the best part of 3 and a half million?
I Can’t see many health insurance firms shelling that kind of money out, so you’d have to finance the trip yourself…
Believe me, Concorde isn’t economically viable as a freighter.
hold on… I though US immigration already got passport numbers sent to them from check-in?
So, frankly, big deal if they can see my full itinerary… if they’ve really got nothing better to do, at least it’ll keep them entertained for a few seconds…
I refuse to believe anything that Rag writes…
They’ll be telling us certain football players are Liars, Cheats and Thieves next… oh, no, hold on, they already have… When was that court case again?
Anyway… Bhoycott the Daily Ranger… including it’s website. Hit that muppet Peter Cox in the wallet, where it hurts.
I’m not sure age has that much to do with it… After all, most parts will have been replaced at some stage…
that joke in Only Fools and Horses comes to mind…
Trigger: I’ve had this broom for 18 years
Del Boy: really?
Trigger: yeah, you just need to look after them properly
Del Boy: how d’you do that, then?
Trigger: well, take this broom, it’s had 12 new heads and 15 new handles in it’s time…
so, although the a/c might be pretty old, it’ll probably have been totally dismantled once or twice and put back together in it’s time.
all still operating DC-3’s are decidely older than even that 732, but they’re still the aircraft a lot of people would aspire to travel on someday…
(Having said all that, I’ve never been overly keen on the 737… it’s an ugly little bassa, specially the 100/200 series…)
Well, according to Airliners.net…

Weights
Operating empty 78,700kg (173,500lb), max takeoff 185,065kg (408,000lb). Max payload 12,700kg (28,000lb).
Performance
Max cruising speed at 51,300ft Mach 2.04, or 2179km/h (1176kt), typical supersonic cruise speed Mach 2.02. Range with max payload and reserves at Mach 2.02 cruise and climb speed 6230km (3360nm). Range with max fuel, reserves and 8845kg (19,500lb) payload 6580km (3550nm).
Now, frankly, if you were loading 12 tons of freight manually, you’d be as well using a jumbo, loading a pallet, flying it across the pond, unloading the pallet, and it’d probably still arrive well before the Concorde was unloaded…
And if you are only talking about what you could load manually quickly… no one could feasibly afford to (as well as) lease an aircraft, using up 80 odd tons of fuel in the process, just so a package arrived an hour or two earlier… (and the a/c would have to return to base…)
Kab, Concorde only sits 100.
rows 1-12 and 14-26, seats A, B, C and D
