Also the successor could be interesting…
“Given the reluctance to deliver advanced fighter aircraft as expressed by Taiwan’s main ally – the US – Taipei is determined to develop its own advanced air power, based on new generation, stealth-capable fighters capable to meet the modern Chinese fighter planes in battle. Other capabilities recommended for such fighters include long-range flight and aerial refueling abilities, as well as the capability to launch ground and anti-ship weapons.”

Exactly, Rii!
This might be the plan(e)

Let the Indians are playing with AMCA. In 2015 – 2017 Russian will make LMFS, they can join and participate in the development, of course, if not for a long time to think 🙂
Indians wants own development of next generation fighter. AMCA will exist in 2030s but will exist.
In LMFS case is possible cooperation between Brazil (Embraer) and Russia (UAC). Between these countries is military and industrial cooperation growing, and there some hints in the field of fifth generation fighter develpopment. And both countries would have similar needs.
Some nice shots from LII 🙂

Nice! Thank you, mack8
Youre assuming the Chinese are exporting J-10 and J-11.
Last I checked most Chinese regiments are equipped with J-7 and J-8. This is where the production in the foreseable future is going.
And will Chinese continue to produce J-10/J-11 in 2025-40? And whom to?
I suspect KFX main market will be Asian and in particular those that don’t like China.
I think the KFX’s main competitor will be the F-35!
Exactly, main competitor of KF-X would be F-35.
What will be with production lines of F-15, F-16, SH, EF, Rafale, Gripen, J-10, J-11, JF-17, MiG-29/35, Su-30/35 in 2030? In my opinion will be closed. There will be only a few types on the fighter market: F-35, PAK FA, maybe “J-31” and… maybe KF-X. Its only about four types instead of ten today. So KFX´s chances could be very good.
(experiences with LCA suggests that AMCA will be not ready and not exportable, J-20 and F-3 probably will not intended for export. Question is LMFS, TFX and maybe some from Brazil).
BTW what stupid is “industrial nationalism”??? Yes, cancel all national developments, all programs, cancel national strategies, sovereignty, cancel nations. We have we have enough F-35s for anyone. Even for Russia some lite version with F110-GE-100, AN/APG-66, no internal bays and with sparrows….

Boeing is close to having its launch customer for the Silent Eagle in a contest where the F-35 purchase is illegal. That would open the way for Saudi purchase of the Silent Eagle.
…Moreover, if KF-X was developed, how big would the 2025-2040 export market really be? Even in a hypothetical market where production lines for the F-16, F/A-18 family, Eurofighter, and Rafale had all shut down, that still leaves South Korea competing against China’s J-10 and J-11, Russia’s SU-35 and possibly its MiG-35, Sweden’s JAS-39E/F, and the USA’s F-35….
Really competent author:) Whole article is strange.
:D:D
Paralay’s work is great. Overall.
Su-30SM could very well be higher.
Same with Su-35 (less likely though).
Su-34 will be higher for sure.
I dont think so, TR1. Su-35 & Su-30SM are ony interim solutions to full rate production of PAK FA.
To be built 220 – 250 Su-50 (+144 FGFA). They fly until LMFS and MFP. But I would cut up to 100 pieces.
My view on post 2030 RuAF:
Su-30SM – 60
Su-35 – 96
Su-34 – 124
PAK FA – 192
MiG-35 – 48
“LMFS” – 192
“Su-25X” – 144
PAD DA – 100
+ some UAVs/UCAVs
= totally around 1000 combat aircraft (today its around 1300 active aircraft)
The presentation took place in the spring of 2011. I do not remember the details, perhaps they were not.
Obviously looking for money to export project. On the version for the Russian Air Force has not yet spoken. My opinion, the Russian needs two – three types of combat aircraft: LMFS (tactical), MFP (strategic) and possibly PAK DA (tanker, ASW, AWACS, etc.). The rest should be done drones.
MFP – “multifunctional interceptor” replace: partial Su-27, MiG-31, Su-24, Su-34 and Tu-22M and Tu-160

Hm, and where is PAK FA?
LMFS contest was not. Twin-engined light fighter MiG (I-2000) lost competition PAK FA.
MiG company offered to the Indians, two variants of light fighters, with one or two engines.
Sukhoi Company has developed the C-56.
These projects gave way to LMFSDrawings – speculation
And what about the picture with LMFS specs from some presentation? Do you know on what occasion was this presentation made, for whom and who was the organizer?
BTW I am pretty sure that there is some pressure from certain groups of people from the RSK to the relevant political persons. I believe that the recent Mr. Rogozin ‘s statement (about need for two different prototypes) is related to it.
