BMI flights are a ripp off.
They are not a rip off.
The difference in fares, if you front up on the day, between BMI and ECNX (was GNER) is pence.
BMI have some excellent early booking fares as do the train company.
However the big problem for BMI is that the train is more flexible with its half-hourly service.
Also more people are now transitting via Amsterdam instead of Heathrow.
A 2hr journey time from city centre to city centre will kill off the British Midland LBA-LHR run, in a similar fashion to the demise of air services between Liverpool and London once fast rail services between Lime Street and Euston arrived.
This doesn’t just apply in the UK. Look at what’s happened to internal air services in France since the advent of the TGV network.
Things change. Deal with it. 😎
The start of the end was the introduction, by GNER, of a half-hourly Leeds – Kings Cross service last year, which has seen double figure percentage passenger growth.
DTV – LHR will probably go the same way once GCR start Eaglescliffe to Kings Cross in the new year.
Mr Bishop already spouting forth about both services.
Currently giving a ‘Temporarily unavailable’ message and has been for a few days.
ETOPS Licence suspended by CAA today.
15 years since the CAA had to take similar action against a British airline.
Positioning Flight which has been shown on arrivals every Sunday afternoon throughout the summer. Positions out from LBA early hours of Saturday.
Usually gets removed from arrivals page after it lands!!
Some suggestion elsewhere that the flights will be operated by XL
Manners is in short supply in this Country nowadays mate!!
His manners have never been good and clearly have not improved over time.
Hence most of us ignore the posts.
The fact that people are looking at the press release is evidence that it has achieved its object.
Think the runway extension is a non starter.
Would never get planning permission, particularly now the airport is no longer owned by the Local Authority that would have to grant permission.
Plus there is a huge drop at the end of the runway and major engineering would be required.
Would need a quarry full of aggregate to build up a plateau at that end.
A fully laden 767 frequently files direct to Bridgetown in the winter cruise season.
I think the more immediate problem is to try and remove the hump, however this would severely hamper operations whilst the work is done.
What about G-CSVS and G-LCRC old Airtours ones.
What about them??
GCSVS went to Iceland years ago and GLCRC is now with Flyjet as GFJEA and is still ‘chartered’
As far as I am aware the only aircraft that MyTravel ever owned were the B757-200’s they got from the desert and the DC-10’S. All the others were / are leased.
According to GINFO the My Travel aircraft are ‘chartered’, not ‘owned’
Anything could happen between now and November. MyTravel, or whatever it will be called by then, probably dont know yet anyway.
Anyone know the future of these 2 a/c after MYT.
Registration G-DJAB is not allocated!!
Come on tommy things have got to get better!!
Who are Hemus Air? I haven’t heard of them before!
Paul
Small Bulgarian Airline (10 aircraft) with a number of scheduled services – not to Manchester!! Presumably doing a charter.
