Wolverhampton has three runways, the longest 3,800 foot used for private jet traffic and helicopters. A very strong anti-group also operates in the area. No wonder they are looking to acquire somewhere else.
There are a few of these. – If you go onto the Eastern Airways site and select LBA as a departue point you get Stornoway as a destination – but they dont fly there from LBA – its a connecting flight and you cant even book a flight from LBA to Stornoway!
Flight only next June to Zante is £184 return. Seems very reasonable to me. Holidays start at least £100 dearer!!
If you try to book flight only with MyTravel next May from LBA to AGP is says the flight is operated by British Midland. Yesterday it still said Astraeus. Havn’t checked the schedule fully. Question is what will happen to the flights which Astraeus had which were not for MyTravel but for Thomas Cook, Atlantic holidays etc.
Dont think we should spend our time copying pprune. We can all look there ourselves.
AEU have new owners. The press release from them over the weekend only makes mention of the AEU operations from Manchester and Gatwick and it could be that a change at LBA was inevitable anyway in due course.
Thomsonfly are facing the same problem as all the other package tour operators. The bog-standard package holiday market is shrinking. People are either booking themselves on the internet, and searching for their flights, or are looking for something more from their holiday than they currently get and are venturing further afield.
The effect will vary from airport to airport. You need package tour holiday makers to fill most of the plane, if they are not there you pull the flight. It is nonsense to suggest that because one airport is losing out so should another in an adjacent geographical area. Depends on the availability of other flights, holidays etc.
There are going to be casualties. Lets hope they are few in size and number.
Weekend rota presumably is
Friday BLK – TFS
Saturday TFS – NCL – TFS
Sunday TFS – BFS – TFS
Monday TFS – BLK
All work no play??
The advert obviously achieved its object – You watched it and took in what it said. Now all you have to do is buy a ticket!!
In laymen’s terms all the airline has to do is get you to your final destination, at their expense, sometime!!
Jet2 appear to be having tech problems today with a 737.
The flight from Newcastle to Pisa arrived 3 hours late and departure to the UK is now showing as 10am tomorrow morning instead of earlier this afternoon!!
There were two 737’s parked nose to nose on the old runway on Friday morning (22nd) when I flew in from LHR on a BMI 320. One was ‘Yorkshire’
Would appear from the flyme parent company’s website that the take over of AEU has crumbled. AEU are to lease two aircraft to flyme and that now appears to be it!!
Where that leaves AEU I am not sure, presumably looking for another suitor?
Carefull – could get about six threads out of that!!
Would appear that, for the winter, the TFS based 757 aircraft is to leave TFS at 8am returning at 6pm and serving Blackpool on Monday & Friday, Newcastle on Tuesday & Saturday and Belfast on Thursday & Sunday. MAN & LBA flights to TFS are UK based.
Pity they couldn’t use Elvington with its 10,000 ft runway. Only 5 miles from the racecourse!
