Isn’t it amazing how rare DPRKAF profiles are? Even in a site like this, you can only find 1-2 aircraft featured.

Boy how I’d like to see some clsoe up, full acess photos to DRPK jets!

We’re very sorry Srbin. Would you care to list any other exclusions you think we should make in our posts?

This is a forum about Modern Military Aviation, and while there may be a lot of diverse military issues that are of interest, the “what is the best fighter”, “what is the best airforce” and “who would win that war” are getting pretty tiring. Although their subjects are usually interesting they always end up in needless flame-wars, inviting know-it-alls to assert thei undisputed prophetic knowledge on what would happen in these purely theoretical scenarios…

    Booooring….

    “against surface to air missiles”?

As I remember there is no SEAD tasking planned, nor HARM compatability…Am I wrong?

Aren’t people tired of those “Who’s better” debates that almost always seem to end up into ****ing contests?

Actually the B-2 does just that. It reflects energy back into concentrated spikes, which means you would get a very strong signal if the spatial geometry was just right, but otherwise, close to nothing. But that is just one feature of its EM-stealth principles. Some surfaces include varying curvature techniques (like the engine nacells) etc. Its wing is primarily constructed to return two concentrated spikes of energy away from the radar.

The F-22 was primarily built on this “spike” philosophy.

The F-117 is the opposite since it scatters the energy everywhere, even back to the source, it’s just that the returns are minimal.

Normal aircraft, using continuous curvature shapes, send an equal amount of energy, everywhere the curve points at.

Against a faceted design like the F-117A you’d probably have a little more success since it relies primarily on redirecting the radar returns to avoid detection. But the B-2 is another matter…you’re better off developing a gigantic telescope and manually guiding SAMs 😀

The B-2 also relies on redirecting the radar returns, albeit with a more complex shape. SO instead of using facets, which are easier to compute, it uses curved surfaces to scatter the returns away from the emmiter.

That of course means that at some attitudes and parts of the mission profile, some radars may get weak, intermittent returns, but practically that is of little military value. Furthermore, with proper intelligence, good planning, and specific operational procedures the B-2s are able to avoid most of these already weak and sporadic returns.

Wow! Awesome patch! Notice the flame that doubles as an AB and the little copyright mark before “Olympic”!

Was there an actual “operation” or a name for it? (I’m talking about the Air Force cover during the games). Are there any other associated patches with said operation?

Italians are top-notch! Like you said, they have more or less the same genetics as the Greeks, but-let me tell you-these birds know how to take care of themselves!

Hamburger, “world’s two best looking races”?

Besides being quite different, and Turkey having many different races, I still disagree. (Greek women are hot, but my friend, have you ever been in St. Petersburg, or the Ukraine for that matter? If standards of living were higher, we’d have a sudden worldwide male migration over to those parts!

maybe the chemical in question pi$$ed off the treehuggers…

Yep…and the AF pretended to use a different system? :p I know I wouldn’t adopt a second rate technology on high-value asset like a B-2 just cos some environmental NGO protested. 😉
