Probably even more than 10% as the Typhoon doesn’t even have the thrust to weight of a -229 F-15E

How do figure that? I’m pretty sure the Typhoon could out-accelerate an F-15E when both are clean, at least up to Mach 2. It’s TWR is actually pretty high, I think it’s only second to the Raptor. I gotta check the sources.

So hw do you explain the comments (and yes I mean assuming that they are true and not just more “the whole world hates America” comments) that the Typhoon is winning not all but most of the BVR engagements with the Raptor?

Hmmm…the Typhoon lost all if not most of the BVR engagements. WVR is a diferent story like I said above. The EF is an underrated fighter IMO and according to pilots it’s a rocket.

Also, The Typhoon is not half the price of the F-22.

The only place I can see the EF having parity with the F-22 would be in WVR engagements, especially since the F-22 doesn’t have HOBS yet.

The Raptor’s pitch rates seem to be very high from the videos coming from some recent airshows. The vapor trails in this picture seem to confirm that.

the raptor is the sole bomber that doesn’t makes heat?

how can the bigest bird of next century who is susposed “stealth” on noze frontal sector would be stealthier from below along his large airframes?

The Raptor is an attack aircraft in this role not a bomber. Is it is designed to be very hard to detect from any angle not just the frontal aspect. Yes, the RCS figures will be larger from underneath the plane but nowhere near that of the F-15E, F-16C, or A-10.

It is designed to be able to survive in advanced hostile territories.

I think we will see an EW F-15 in the coming years. Spark Eagle sounds like a good name to me. 😎

Here’s the swapping ends thing I was talking about. It’s at about 5 minutes into the video.

I have to say, the B-1 is probably my favorite bomber of all time. All the publicity goes to the B-52 and B-2 but I think the B-1 is just as deserving. Besides, what other big modern bomber can go into a zoom climb off the deck and then do a barrell roll? 😀

The only bomber I can think of that could possibly do that would be the Tu-22M but I’ve got no evidence.

I expect that the F-22 demo will include a lot more rudder action compared to what they do now. The Flanker and Super Hornet routines use tons of yaw inputs. There is only one clip I’ve seen of the F-22 using it’s rudders in a manuevering action but you would figure that those things are big for a reason.

In the clip the pilot pulls straight up and then uses full left rudder to make the plane swap ends.

Let me see if I get this right, I HAVE to scientifically prove that the Flanker has better aerodynamics, but you DON’T have to prove that it doesn’t. The Flanker and Fulcrum HAVE defied the laws of Physics, the Raptor hasn’t.

Defied the laws of physics? What do they have time travel capabilities now? Haha…

You have said the same things on ATS. You stated that the F-22 has no vortex aerodynamics and is a very stable design unlike the Flanker with no proof.

I think all those who have seen flankers fly with a Full a2a load know how it handels . I have seen the videos . Harry has probably seen MKI’s comming in combat configuration and performing routines , i think that the claim that there is any significant change in the harware of these jets is rather dubious . Even otherwise they still pull a lot lot more High AOA manuevers that i’ve seen any Western fighters pull even while on bingo fuel and zero weapons however lets just wait till 2008 to judge the raptor there is just lot more to it then we’ve seen .

True, although all the routines I’ve seen were clean. Have any links to the full combat load videos? It didn’t seem to make that big of a difference on the Super Hornet either but he’s probably flown against them already.

As long as Sukhoi can sell planes how does it matter how many F-22’s US buys?

Percieved threats will lead Congress to buy more Raptors.

Some of those SUKHOI claims are rather dubious . I’ve seen a fully loaded sukhoi perform some gut renching Routines , Maybe we can get a copy and send to through Pat jens over to him at langley . Does the raptor really cost 40 some to develop??? I thought the R and D phase was more like 30 Billion?? ( although I could be wrong) .

I can’t answer those questions but if anyone knew it would be him. He also mentioned that he had been a test pilot since ’03 I think.

“Dozer” the pilot who does most of the mini-demos now, says that they are very restricted on what they can do right now. He says that the Raptor has more than what he’s shown to the crowds so far.

He says that he will try to show a little more at the Edwards airshow but otherwise wait until ’08. He also has more to say about the Raptor but I’ll put that on another thread.

F-18E/F can not cut off and intercept anything that wants to refuse engagment. While the reverse is not true. An F-18E/F can not refuse engagement from a Big SU, F-15, etc… or most fast movers.

You keep saying this over and over but a couple of the SH pilots on Airwarriors say it’s not that big of a deal. I don’t think it is either. When the time comes, I think the SH will be able to get the job done.
