Laughable Article. Thanks for posting, now we can wash it and truly make it washtimes article.

    —–

Other Indian experts, such as Ashutosh Mishra of the Institute of Defense Studies and Analyses in New Delhi told reporters there was no reason to fear the JF-17s. He said these are slightly improved versions of the F-7 aircraft, which were equivalent to India’s Russia-made MiG-21s, Pakistan now needs to phase out. India’s Mig-21s have been replaced by newer versions.

Strike 1: If people like those are sitting in Institute of Defense Studies and Analyses, then there are lots of reasons to fear 😀

JF-17 is a lightweight, multirole, day-night, all-weather fighter with maximum takeoff weight of 2,700 kilograms, maximum speed 1.7 M, ceiling 16,500 meters, max weapon load 3,900 kilograms, range 3,000 kilograms. It would be equipped with a Russian engine, probably RD-33, that powers the MiG-29.

Just highlighting for fun 😀 , Usman said it all :diablo:

The first flight of the aircraft took place Sept. 04, 2003, and after flight testing

August 25 is the right date.

U.S. defense experts told London’s Financial Times the JF-17 was no threat to the United States.

It was never meant to be 😀

“If you want hundreds of planes to look a sizable air force, it comes in handy,” Richard Aboulafia, aviation analyst at the Teal Group, told the paper. “It does not come in handy in any other circumstances. If you put it head to head against an F-16 it would probably last about 5 seconds.”

Depends what version He’s talking about 😀 , does Aim-120 takes 5 seconds to travel the entire distance? or is he talking about WVR? WVR combats take time to initiate…you dont spawn with aircrafts in 10 KM circle..He played too much USAF multiplayer 😀 Stupid rhetorical statement. If he’s saying 15 Million dollar Aircraft doesnt stand a chance against 90 million dollar plane, well thats understandable now is’nt it?

Michael O’Hanlon, defense analyst at the Brookings Institution, said the United States was less concerned with fighter jets produced by China.

    I see..thats why they’re jumping up and down about J-10,Sukhois etc 😀

“These are a couple of middle-range technological powers,” said O’Hanlon to the newspaper. “I worry a lot more about Soviet-era MiGs and Su-27s and Israeli command and control and any help with their pilot training.”
    😀

Couple..other Country being China offcourse..so now the Soviet Era Migs and su-27s are more worrying than the J-11s, J-10s….urm…Did he got nominated for best comedian in Oscars this time around? Perfect analogy of Ashutosh Mishra.

Thank You. Very amusing post as always from our friend.

UCAVs will do the risky bombing runs in near future (that is ~10+-15+ Years I think)

Pilots will never dissapear, they may in future move from a fighter cockpit to a safe base deep behid friendly lines from where they’ll control the UCAVs.

Golden_Arrow #2 has been discussed to death before, do not revive old topics again. Hit the search button, this is an international forum, not a spamming forum.

Arshad and Star49, dont answer anything off-topic ;-). The same old BS, the same old posters, the same old story….this topic is useless anyway.

Russia is playing both sides, I read on the news the Russians were selling GPS Jamming equipment to Pakistan the other day. You know never know what the Russians are upto until the last day. And then Pakistan didnt set up JF-17 factory for nothing.

There are so many visual differences, that would offcourse lead to differences in the components inside the plane. You dont have same components for different sizes.

The differences are greater than the similarities between Lavi and J-10, so the people should first consider posting the similarities rather than just saying oh its similar koz I say so or posting a political story which includes several conspiracy theories.

Lets hear the similarities rather than oh it somewhat looks similar, there are so many Warfare toys which look similar, but interestingly the logic that its similar becuase it was copied only applies to J-10..why? 😀 I am sure Israel would have been severely penalised if something like that did occur..but I dont see anything happened..Israel is getting all it wants and even what money cannot buy.

Dont worry Oracle, Pakistan can still purchase old used Mirages from wherever they want ! :p

I doubt there are any more left anywhere? We bought them all lol.
Well…Budget constraints, We’re 1/8th of your size and the GDP/Capita has no significant difference.

Well you see if India buys, Pakistan wouldnt be buying the same model anyway, just another point on how lucrative Marketing Licensing is ;-)…its another way of saying you will save us the money for marketing Indians. As for Bangladesh, they dont have enough money I guess to keep their Mig-29s in air, I dont know if they even want to buy the Mirages in the first place.

I was under the impression that the local market had already committed itself to forty, thus it has already been sold? Ant what is going to replace the mig 21 Bison?

InAF will buy much more than 40…more like around 240. Then they’ll decide to export it, but during that time Americans would be dumping the F-16s on the market, Its going to be a rough period for eveyone, apart from Amrika offcourse.

I hpe that inda can market and succesfully sell the Tejas, it might e an idea to instal an israeli radar and weapons for this purpose, not that there is anything wrong with th indian equivilant.

Oh bhai, let them first sell it in local Market. Another thing is you see India doesnt have an “equivilant” to Israeli Radars 😀
