We recently heard news reports talking about a Chinese radar being fitted to the fc-1, a smaller version of the j-10 radar has been mentioned. One wonders why an aircraft that a few months ago, was taunted as having such a big nose, would not get the same j-10 sized radar? Am I the only one who finds this confusing, why would u want to get a less capable radar if you can fit the original and more capable radar in the nose?

China is wayy off the plasma stealth field.

There are many things on J-10 radar which might be of no use for Fc-1 for e.g. sim. engagements etc etc.

You would be better served in looking up the mods made to lic produced American M113’s to enable them to fire Chinese Red Arrow HJ8’s..at least those had some design contribution from Pakistans’s side!

I have been perplexed by a lot of Indian purchases, and for the life of me I can’t believe they are buying things from outside first, and then if nothing is available they look inwards?

I can’t imagine (let’s say US) finds out that the JSF is not likely to be on schedule and then as a “stop-gap” measure decides to go and buy Eurofighter or Rafale instead?

Why does India send so much money outside when they could wait it out for local equipment to come good? Don’t they understand the simple logic that national defense doesn’t mean just fighting battles with good equipment only, but has a lot to do with national capabilities, infrastructure and R&D and of course, the economy?

Also why does India buy so much of it’s big ticket items from the UN security council veto holders (except for China)?

Few years ago their now president proudly claimed that most of the stuff in armed forces would be indigenouzed…look now..opposite is happening…LCA was suposed to replace the migs..something else is doing that..Arjun was supposed to be MBT for IA…but they’re buying 1000 T-90s…..etc etc.

I still beleive they shouyld replace atm the migs with migs and than with LCA.

As for UNSC…I think it was their best friend U.S. which didnt let India in…

and its funny India makes noise about American stuff which goes to PAF…you know over here they claim they can wash out all of our forces in 2-3 days..but their experienced political leaders start jumping even if USA thinks about giving something to Pak. Look at the difference.

Arent alot of US navy in the Gulf Sea under the range of Iran’s Cruise Missiles….a concentrated attack could hurt the navy.

and who knows…they might march the armies to Iraq to “Liberate” it…It’ll be probably welcomed in southern Iraq to say the least. They are not strong conventially against America. But America’s whole plan in Iraq would screw up full time..and that means spending tens of more billion dollars. This can be a good stretagic move by Iran. Everything in Iraq would be screwed up for Americans. Iran’s move in Iraq fails or not..but American for time being would fail. If they plan such thing…it needs to be something like blitzkrieg.

I dont know about Arab governments, but Arabs dont really hate Iran/Persians, even if they do, They hate America and Israel much more. Many Arabs infact are orignally from Iran too. Iran might only attack Arab countries if its being used directly for staging attacks against Iran, and thats FAIR ethically.

India has begun the process of buying 125 new fighter aircraft, a senior air force official has said.
Vice Chief of Air Staff SK Malik said in the southern Indian city of Bangalore on Wednesday that all options were open.

“We will go global. Perhaps F-16s will be there. Swedish Grippen, Mirage 2000 and MiG-29 will be there,” he said.

The air force modernisation plan will replace its fleet of ageing and often unreliable Russian MiG-21s.

Two-year schedule

Air Marshal Malik was speaking at the annual conference of the Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine.

“We have not short-listed any aircraft nor discounted any,” he said.

Air Marshal Malik said the initial process of identifying the required aircraft would take about two years.

Why is Gripen there when LCA was supposed to be superior or equal to it?

Also if China decides to get FC-1, will they use the same local radar as that on initial batch meant for PAF?
