Am i right by saying LCA airframe is designed for the current GE engine/similar class and Kaveri is designed for LCA airframe..?

You can bet that RR and SNECMA representatives are already making proposition to HAL.

Its not easy to put any engine you want in the airframe, it’ll need very modifications, and it will only delay the LCA programme even more further

OFFICIALLY India has not put even a single Rs/$ etc in the PAK-FA program where as OFFICIALLY the sanctions from the MOD and IAF have been received by the ADA to start on the design work of the MCA..

CURRENTLY the ADA is in the project definition phase.. collecting the requirements in detail from the IAF.. AFTER this the MCA program will see the design table..

Yeup, there is still some cushion time before MCA starts getting delayed, its essential that Kaveri is done before 2010.

btw what does kaveri means?

The thing is Kaveri is holding back 2, not one project. and MCA was supposed to have an evolved version. But I think LCA’s with Kaveris will come around ~2011.

The Chinese military launched an exercise with live ammunition code-named “Iron Fist-2004,” in the Queshan Training Base in Henan Province, central China, Saturday morning.

The exercise was carried out by a reinforced mechanized infantry division in mountains in the training base of the Jinan Military Area Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Some 60 foreign military leaders, observers and officers from 16 countries observed the exercise, including Brunei, the Philippines, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

It is the first time for the PLA to invite so many high-ranking foreign military officers to observe a military exercise, which it is also the largest-scale military exercise opened to foreign observers, said a Chinese officer in charge of the maneuvers

glad pilot is safe, live to fight another day, maybe he ejected earlier, because taking a chance might risk lives on the ground rather than his own??? we dont know yet. But its always preferable to be safer than sorry..
