I agree with you there, but the budget is the running costs of the forces, atleast most of it. Not to forget Cash Flow is more important, India would be dealing with: sukhois, jags, hawks, scorpys,AC,local stuff, t-90s,arjuns? lcas and then m2ks, , the budget would rise naturally even if you dont buy m2ks and other stuff. People would also question why m2ks?? 2 LCAs for the price of one M2ks….but i think it could be possible for India…but the cash flow would be tight, and French make sure it remains that way..i mean..they could ask for 70 million per peice.

anyway, 3 Years more is the max and min. IAF can go with mig21s, bisons or not.

actually what i wanted to ask is any chances of retiring these planes earlier??

What if India invests all the money into LCA it would set aside for M2ks??? I mean on production lines etc…They could be built in 3-4 years time? and then you have some really good Mass Production,

but the bottom line remains, Mig-21s *will* have to fly for 3-4 years more.

Thats the most serious concern of IAF, I dont think so they’ll be willing to ground all of these planes, whatever they order will take the same amount of time till LCA comes anyway…

how much will it cost to buy 125 M2ks??

Assuming the costs are around 60 million, (some sources say its higher, some says its lower…)

We’re talking about 7-8 BILLION dollars of ORDERS!

Can India afford these? Dont forget the logistics, weapons, training and other initial costs…it could go upto 10 billion dollars.

Say if its done…where will the LCA be standing in the whole picture???

I dont think so, they operate different engines, you have efficiency factors, thrust etc, things like that.

HyperWarp thanks for the picture 🙂

and GoldenDragon’s post pretty much sums up everything.

also does anyone has a picture of RD-93???? I found one small pic of RD-33, never a pic of RD-93?? and any other info someone can provide on the engine apart from thrust and the following..

    (this is for RD-33)
    RD-33 :
    length – 166.5 inch
    width – 39.4 inch
    weight – 2,326 lb

also does anyone knows the exact range of RC-400 and grifo S7?

flex297, thanks for the picture, do you also have Griffo s7’s picture??

It really depends upon the costs, do the PAF wants cheap fighters and save up for some goody goody or make fc-1 goody goody (kind of)

    😉

hmm i dont think so expecially Mica IR or whatever you call it, MICA can be seen as more effective in short ranges. Sd-10 for long range, mica for med, and other stuff for short..pefect common sense.
