Great, so we give £160m to the clowns who screwed them up in the first place.
Does anyone know when the Typhoon returns from Canada?
3 years for an integration study???
I think the next big breakthrough will be bread…..already sliced
The big question is why would anyone bother as someone in the 1990s had the bright idea of putting the GPS in the bomb??
40 years ago, F-14, F15 and F-16 development AND testing was completed in 5 years. Now it takes 15-20 years due to bureaucratic foot-dragging. Defense contractors have no incentive to continue prolonged testing because they make their profit by building kit at high production rates, not through endless testing
And 40 years before that development and testing took 100 days
Why would anyone do dogfighting with a gun when IR missiles exist?
Why would you go dogfighting when BVR missiles exist? DON’T REPLY PEOPLE….IT MIGHT BREAK THE INTERNET.
MB aren’t doing a terribly good job on the F-35 seat by all accounts.
I’ve read an interview of a german pilot after he did a tour of air policing over baltic states:
about the Typhoon:
“It’s a warm weather aircraft. If you want to be operational by cold weather, you take the F-4… “
Now, considering the geography and climate in Canada, it doesn’t sound very compatible . I’ll try to dig out the whole interview
Why would temperature make a difference? It’s cold at 25,000ft no matter what it’s like on the ground
Why did the RAF get rid of ALARM? Was it rubbish? It seemed on paper to be a very clever system and leaves an obvious gap in capabilities. Do they just plan to throw Storm Shadows at SAM sites from now on?
I got the impression it didn’t like idling so they have to spool it up every minute or two…kind of like a classic car.
There are mods on these forums??
Will they be at RIAT?
Does anyone know if this bag o’ ****e is going to make it to RIAT this year….or is it still allergic to large bodies of water?
