In a recent issue of an aviation magazine, it said that if a lightning has a landing gear problem, you cannot ‘belly-land’ it due to the unfortunate position of the fuel tank (it would probably explode). I think that this could be the main reason why the CAA won’t let one fly in the uk.
I don’t know why on earth the CAA will not allow the Shackleton in the UK, even when it is operated by a company like air atlantique.
Does anyone have any information on G-HHAA (The bucc at Scampton)? It’s been a while since I heard anything on it.
