I can now confirm that the G HHII / BE505 Mk11B is now back flying, It just landed back at North Weald (I had my binoculars ready this time)
The Hangar 11 Collection Spitfire PRXI was displaying over the Gunpowder Mills at 3pm, flying out of North Weald.
Thanks for that I did wonder if it may have been Peter Teichman but I did not hear him on North Weald radio either leaving or on the return flight, I did hear a light aircraft out of Elstree say early on (11AM) he was surveying the site for the display
It was PL965 from Hangar 11 at North Weald. I was at Santa Pod and saw it too…
I was at North Weald on Saturday and the Hanger 11 Spitfire left about 10.15 and returned a few hours later, I heard the pilot say that he just returned via White Waltham
Here’s some detail shots I took for you yesterday. It’ll be a challenge to do these in 1/72… 😮
I am hoping that these will be close enough in 1/72

The guns were borrowed from G-AWHE and slaved in for the initial ground based photo shoot that I took and released, as the originals were not with the aircraft when it came from Breighton. As they had not been fitted in that rebuild, they were not part of the original technical certification and so new items were manufactured and a modification approval had to gained before fitment for flight. This took a while and so initial flying was undertaken without the guns fitted, hence the blanking plates at that stage. They were subsequently fitted and have been on ever since. From memory they were put on just before Legends this year. I think it looks best with the guns fitted, myself. 😎
Thank you I will finish the model with guns fitted then;)
I counted sixteen.
N36 11.22 E037 34.31
Mk 8’s?
I make it 17 as one appears to have been put on a fire dump
Well, finished at last!! And wouldn’t you know I’ve now got 2 days of dark, rainy weather to delay taking any decent photo’s of the completed article.
When I can get to that I’ll put together a new thread, but for now here’s one very substandard pic. Colors are badly skewed by the combination of ambient and tungsten light. I really should invest in a photo booth.
A outstanding build Todd a real labour of love your can rightful be proud of your self
Vulcan will not be flying, as the CAA C of A expired on 2nd July:eek:
A nice picture of one in camouflage can be found here

I took the liberty of sending the photo to Dave Menard, who is by all accounts the world’s leading expert on (and former crew chief of) F-100s. Here’s what he said:
” This was an elaborate joke pulled by the GIs of the 20th TFW for an open house at RAF Wethersfield in the early sixties. Please notice the pylon is from a
450 gallon tank and it is not in full contact with the load. Don’t sweat it. cheers, dave”
