Hi Lightning
5 Squdron was 706’s last frontline unit before she went to the LTF so it was an easy choice, plus there are two many 11 squdron Lightnings in yorkshire already.
Hi Lightning
Once ive rebuilt my F.3 its going back in its 5 Squdron markings
Hi Guys
Anybody got anymore interesting Lightning pics ,like the F.6 doing a low pass over the barrier and blowing it down. Or any prangs.
I was there ill never forget it !!!!
Love that photo
Shame that we cant see it in the sky’s of the uk anymore.
If you want to see a sea vixen in millitary colours there are a few in museums but if you want to see one flying there is only one so what if it looks like a flying drinks can at least it is in the air
Well Done Red Bull For Keeping A Bit Of History Flying !
There were six cockpit sections that didnt return from the film company that made the film(wing commander was the name) the rear ends and the wings were all scrapped at marine salvage

I dont think the engines would be much use after a number of years filling with water but the jet pipes would be worth having even if just for static it looks a lot better than the gaping holes at the end of the aircraft.
What a waste
The last time i saw XN728 the canopy was still intact looks like the local yobs have been attacking it again. If it it is scraped maybe there might still be some useful bits worth salvaging for other restorations but i dont even think that it is worth saving the cockpit section.
Peter
As far as i know all the lightning remains at marine salvage and at hanningfeilds were all sold or scraped.
Thanks
Scott

Engines arnt a problem everret aero have a few avon 302’s the big problem is jet pipes. As far as i know british aerospace had some spares but they went to south africa. But you never know what could turn up from RAF storage over the next few years
There Is no gllom to spred dhfan i have a brand new pair of wings in there transport crates just waiting to be fitted im in the process of disconecting everything to remove the front fuselarge to fit them.
Andrewman id like to know just who this company is as a lightning owner ive had no aprroch from anybody about parts or anything the only people who have made any contact with me or through aeroventure is the AALO. Is this info you have acurate or did you here it down the pub.
Peter
