Thats what i was coming to, or the D swapped for Fs like Cs were for the Ds.
definately need more than 7 if current tempos stay. Not that I’m complaining!
Also is there an exact decision on S70s once all MRH90s are online. I understood 5avn to be gaining airframes in this new order sequence…. so are extras going to be ordered for 171 sqn or do you think the 12 S70s with echidna will continue with 171?
Also i think8+8 airframes abit short sighted considering tempos on border ops. 10+10 maybe smarter
Heres one for the F-35 heads around here.
Does the F-35B have the strengthened landing gear of the C model
How hard would it be to put the tougher landing gear, hook and catapult nose gear so the F-35s could just fit into a normal carrier circuit?
Dear sir,
Because you say the aircraft is neither fast nor stealthy I suppose that makes it true?
And because they say it is makes it true:rolleyes:
I remember a bou making a hard landing and being lifted out by a…. chinook!
I am concerned we are only ordering 7, I thought we would have been after a few more.
Also could see an add on to the P-8A order
monaco? I’d get to see it every lap of the Grand Prix
Agreed, all UOR should be weighed against the risk faced and long term future of the product.
No, 15 now at AMB, and the remaining 9 still in the States (in the process of acceptance).
The “one in the states” was the first, A44-201, which had been retained at China Lake for OT&E, but was delivered with three others last week to make 15 (ie 201 to 212 with 1 SQN, 213 to 215 are 6 SQN with the Growler wiring).
Final 9 a/c will be delivered next year to give 6SQN IOC, and FOC for 82WG.
My mistake, lost track while on ex.
Yes, but neither Spain nor Australia have spent over 20 bln £ in Afghanistan and Iraq like Britain has, as i just found out with a quick search…
And ok, in Iraq let’s say that Britain will get her money back, since BP has taken the rights for oil extraction in one oil field. What’s the gain from Afghanistan? Unfortunately Britain has drawn the short stick in the alliance with USA. Now RAF will be sacrificed in order to maintain the presence in a lost cause.
excuse me? War is not a money making investment:mad:
australia is the largest non-NATO army contingent in Afghanistan
And since when can a guerilla force not be defeated? Malaya, Borneo, Oman come to mind.
The war WILL be won, as long as nay sayers dont pull us out before we get the chance to win:(
And the taliban doesnt have the support of the majority of people in afghanistan.ever been there? didnt think so
15 at amberly and one still in the states
We retired the F-111 and bought 24 new aircraft because it was cheaper!
Ne real surprise it was always on the card whatever, the Tories love privatising stuff!
I do agree that the UK should look at adopting the US model of reservist pilots it would offer cost savings whilst maintaining capability.
Dont blame just the tories, who signed FSTA?
good idea about crewing though
Then you have a strange way of showing it. Your posts have been full of both implied & outright criticism of British equipment (much of which you have suggested we scrap & replace with what Australia operates), senior officers, military administration & political leadership, all of which you have compared unfavourably to their Australian equivalents, & I haven’t seen any of the respect for the rest of the forces that you say you feel. Perhaps you have not fully realised how your posts come across.
I dont care if you use martian equipment, i am just saying if some of your procurements had been wiser and better thought out, some good savings could have been had. exactly like what happened here with the idiotic seasprite order. if we had spent the money on seahawks, we would have them already, and have saved money. are puma upgardes better than more chinooks and merlins?
And since the armed forces cant and wont protest(who wants to see what happened in london again-thats not protesting its hooliganism and thuggery), the best way for the message to get across is for a few brass to resign in disgust, and speak out.
Not so often as most F-35 Pilots are likely to be the best available.
-Sure will be in the RAAF ones:D
I do worry though as I see some people in our RAAF and other future F-35 operators thinking they will be able to be over the FEBA in a little invisible dome:(
I think if F-35 operators think more lateraly, it will be better- you dont need to shoot down the fighters to take them out of the fight
I blame Die hard 4.0:diablo:
What?! I have the utmost respect for the British Armed Forces, I hate what is being done to them by succesive govenments, I am trully sorry if you thought me not respecting them.
The governments and the top brass are another matter. I have watched this happen down here to our good neighbours the kiwis, and it is very sad to see. I think the RAF leaders have got to stop trying to push the RN off the chair left, and start working together to bring back some of the lost chairs. infighting will lead to loss(ie divide and conquer):(
this is not ment to bash the BAFs sorry if you thought that, but I respect services with combat records and histories that similar to ours. we are and I hope always will fight together!!!
