And why is that ok? why doesn’t the world accept freedom isnt free? why are we scared of being labelled racist for dealing with zimbabwe?if my neighbour calls me a cat doesn’t make it so! Or is it too hard to admit to past policy failures?

Best to do it now before a new leader is established- china might welcome the reduced burden on it finances-the stability- and we would have the most important elements- initiative and the offense

do the argentinians even have pgms? hitting the tankers is key- hit them first, there will be a reduction in argentinian force projection-and i’m sure the rapiers move location- without satellite recon, the aircraft would have to climb to identify target, leaving them vulnerable

in the high threat environments, the marines should be supported by a 2 or 3 carrier task force- with 8-16 squadrons- there should never be a time a MAF should operate alone

When is something going to be done about North Korea? Why is it a low priority- because thers no oil? we talk about casualties- what about the starving tortured citizens of the North? We have all seen the images coming out from the North- how far removed from reality are they! you all talk numbers this numbers that- lets talk about the people! How many units of the North would fight? there would be the hardcore units, but alot would be starving, and possibly open to the south. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it being similar to when North Vietnam entered the south- a few fanaticals fighting on, most just accepting it. Do you think the majority of North koreans choose there way of life? war may not be the best, but the longer we give them to build a nuclear arsenal, the harder it will be for our children. Just like East Timor, we should bite the political bullet and do what needs to be done.

At the same time, conflicts are sometimes started to divert from home problems, but I agree they wouldn’t want to suffer the humiliation of loss again- no new Belgranos or needless deaths

I was about to ask about rapiers and it would not be a disaster- in less then 18 hours the RAF could have another gaggle of 4-6 typhoons there and maybe a squadron of SAS-so no real strategic problem

speculation and rumour is that upto 3 are to be maintained for another three months, for a final appearance at avalon to celebrate 90 years of the RAAF. idea being to keep 3 so as to have one or two flyers. also ARDU to keep one in reserve for testing for a while. not sure how reliable, but given the public affection, a posibility

war is a trade off- sacrifing one or two typhoons against tankers to buy enough time for re inforcements.and whats the threat- skyhawks and mirages?

Why would the typhoons not just burn through and hit the tankers?

The F-35B doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, and the case is rising for a sole aircraft in F-35C. in the nightmare scenario, the marines would be supported by the carriers(maybe with USMC squadrons), and the USAF, and against capabilites in the past such as Grenada, Panama and Somalia, F-35B is overkill and the space would be better used for more Cobras or armed ospreys. same goes fo other countrys like Australia why waste time with the A or B just go C.

Also would this open the way for joint hawkeye and carrier trainers? could BAE start producing Goshawks? would this level of usage economise a NATO COD Aircraft?or Italy and Spain buying CVF, with offsets in parts, and training facilities in the Med?the more you build the cheaper it gets for everyone. sell CdG to brazil, add one for france means 5. Dangerous Ideas:diablo:
Also you begin to wonder about the buisness case for F-35A at all. Just accepting F-35C with it tougher landing gear and emergency capabilities(wartime road strips) and the savings of having just one type around the world.
