Neither. Admit Britain is done projecting military air power(carrier) and use them as your helicopter carriers for the next 30 years. Use savings on your NHS.

Where does all the money go from the British budget?

All the more reason for other countries outside those from south america to assist Britain…. I for one would support an Australian task force being sent to support British sovereignty over the falklands

As long as there are living veterans from WWII then it wont even be considered. Period.

When you have the experiences of the Israeli/jewish people of the world in the last 80 years, then you can preach disarmament of Israel. But as long as people preach ‘the complete destruction of Israel and wiping it off the map’, then you can understand the nuclear deterant

As long as there are living ww2 vets, we will not buyand/or participate in Japanese weapons programs. Thats it. simple. Forum members wishing aside, this is simply un palateable for the ADF. and we currently have one of the best SSK’s in the world. we can do it again.

Get this into your mindsets:- the ADF will NOT buy Japanese. Japan wont ecport its military technology. We can buy/creatre better anyway.

To compare Fukuishima, a tragedy caused buy a horrific natural disaster, and operation of a nuclear submarine is ridiculous.

Alot yes. And the fact our current SSK’s when working are some of the best in the world based on its australian and US technology.

Japans reluctance to export military technology doesnt help.

the current formula works. with prudence paid to the failings of the collins procurement, and lessons learnt, sea1000 has alot of potential

Joint design suggests equal partners, which Japan and Australia are not. We have nothing to offer the Japanese save our monies.

wow. how little you know. research before you spout an opinion

I’m sorry, but how is A400M better than C-17 for Australia? how many of it operators would deploy in our defence? 1? oh and there is a reason the RAAF and the RAF and RCAF bought them… inter-operatibility…. and the little fact A-400M is 10 years late now?

do hope we can buy these C-27Js they would be handy

welcome to the real world WITCHA, in which not everyone wants to hug and kiss and make nice…. fact of the matter is, Australia does have a threat in India and China… even Indonesia. Accept it. as we continue to overpopulate this world, and resources and space become more scarce, countries finances become worse and worse…. if a country runs out of money, doesnt mean it no longer needs to buy things… and if said country has a large military… things can/ and have happened…

and those aircraft would make a world of difference… in any defence of the country, it will not be sheer numbers that win the day…. training, determination and skill and quality of equipment will matter… as will tactics, and geography… we have alot of distance to trade for time…enough time for allies to come and assist….
