    Not convair, maybe boeing;)

i can think of many things it gets from the Tu-95……….Spending alot of the time on the ground, when not on the ground be escorted by NATO fighters, both used by Putin as ‘regime viagra'(point at your strength and they wont see your weakness):)

I am wondering , were the russians possibly using plasma stealth for this feat
or is it that RAF defences and radars are crappy and useless at best…

    on the Tu-160

anyways, its good to see Russia back to save the world from western imperialism and fascist US empire , which is a danger to mankind with its dangerous plans for world domination

are you the worlds biggest joke or are you being sarcastic? Hardly old news this ‘feat’

as has been said pilots, tactics and skill and luck all play a factor, but any F-16 above block 40 would have the advantage

the saddest thing is they put them self there. with all the eggs in one basket, (JSF)they have no back up plan what so ever- every fixed wing combat aviation brach- USAF,USMC,USNwill be left with dud aircraft US expeditionary power woul diminish and it would take years to recover. If boeing were smart they woul continue development of a completely different type from JSF just in case

with a reported flyaway cost of 137.5 million, 100 aircraft would be 13.75 billion dollars, witrh the price certainly going down further with the size of the purchase., talkin maybe 20 billion dollars all inclusive for spares, compared to an aircraft that the manufacturer refuses to give a price on? what about the savings in cancelling F-18F, no need to restrengthen the current hornets, how does it not work out for everyone? we have tried single engine aircraft befoe(ie mirage III), which we sold without the slightest thought in the late 80’s. because of the vast space between airbases(even cities) in the top end, two engines is a safe bet.

Well, funny on how nobody leaves the JSF Program. As you have listed so many better solutions? Also, it interesting if Stealth is so over rated why is Russia and China developing Advance Stealth Designs of there own??? For example would the RAAF really want Flankers when Russia itself is designing an Advance Stealthy Fighter (i.e. PAK-FA)…………..Sorry, makes little sense to me.;)

Obviously you have little understanding of the security situation regarding australia…. where did i say stealth was over rated? i just pointed out the obvious- JSF is over rated- and how are we to leave JSF, when we can’t get approval for raptor yet! And what would china and russia purchasing stealth fighters in the future-I’m talking about an immediate requirement- have to do with Australia’s security? I cant see us fighting china or russia anytime soon- all we need is a fighter that is superior to the flankers already owned by our neighbours? JSF does not fit our current deterent base of fast deep striking airpower – F-22 does, and its available now.

I wonder if your bias toward the F-35C is because of the lack of competion in the aviation industry, your beloved USN would be floundering without it?

If the F-22 can be eqiupped with two GBU’s, 2 AMRAAM’s and two Sidewinders, with the ability to super cruise to and from the target, with increased survivability it would be worth it. and it would not work out to more expensive if we are talking a 1500 plane buy to replace F-35. maybe not catered to everyones needs, but F-22 is a better plane for australia then the F-35.

If you can down a JSF it just means it’s all the more easier to down a Typhoon or Rafale, etc.

this is my point… it would create a need for new EW aircraft, better and more optimised aircraft design.

better have the best and not need it then to not have it and need it

No offence, but in war there is two sides to every story, and then the truth. if the south african claims were based on data from before 1992, then there would be a element of doubt to them, but after the breakdown of apartheid any details like this would have surfaced and been used in propaganda for the cubans and the like

i would like to see a price comparison on developing the F-22 to have AtoG capabilities similar to F-35 and a carrier version versus continued development of the F-35

it was swallowed because it was dovetailed with the war on terror. simple, but does every country that buys JSF want the hassle? if another country disagrees with a policy of yours, it could refuse to provide parts made under its part of the work share. agreements that that wont happen are useless in time of crisis

I dont think they are being racist, they are just asking for more info themselves. I would like to know the details of your kills just out of curiosity. it is rare to find real pilots with kills

I hope Australia will too. while I’m a staunch supporter of our alliance with america, I’m sick of having F-35 propaganda shoved down our throats. F-35B whould be handy for a rebirth of the RAN’s Fleet Air Arm on the Canberra class ‘phibs, but as a air superiority over the northern half as australia? give me a break. the rest of the world being used to develop America’s new F-16 replacement? disgraceful

Which is a shame. If only more countries had the political manhood to pull out of JSF the aviation industry would be a much better place. Sure the technology may be great but the loss of individuality and competition in the industry will kill it. And if the cold war is heating up , havent we just made it easier for them? create a anti aircrafrt system tailored to hunt JSF, and you have just neutralised most of the free worlds air power (especially USN and USMC expeditionary air forces)
