Better to sell them A-12 if we’re talking pie in the sky. Honestly, though, the UK would have been the only partners I’d wanted at the time for F-22A. F-117A was already past it’s pinnacle development-wise by ’95. We already knew JSF was the next big thing.
DCS is one impressive software. I have watched several of the better players on YouTube and am amazed how detailed it is.
63% for MKI is excellent. They’ve actually committed to MKI and India should be very proud of the turnaround. I fear they might over commit to the task to get it another level of improvement.
S-37 aka Su-47 was a pariah after the wing flapping issue as speeds increased. Oscillating surfaces transmit energy throughout the rest of the plane and there was no cure. But it doesn’t mean a subsonic design wouldn’t have worked.
Boeing proved they can quickly prototype fighters. Lockmart has no plans to expand F-16 sales. And there were plenty of ways to improve on the F-16 to make it relevant into the future. Boeing probably could have piggybacked off Saab for a Viggen II which would have been just a Gripen upscaled with an F100. Plenty of potential for their T-X design, too. The market has never favored heavies.

F100 or F110 is the real guessing game. Surely they want F110-132 or F100-229 at F100-100 prices. General Electric is probably licking it’s chops over the prospect of 200 engines.
One for an APU, the other for a radar.
Su-47 suffered wing flapping in the trans-sonic range. Obviously not going to outrun anything supersonic capable.
France should have ordered A-4, modified it to their tastes, and dumped Super Etendard. Even Vought’s A-7 fit their ship better for long range strike. Super Etendard was built on an obsolete airframe using long in the tooth engines. A-4 had a pretty good combat record in comparison. If not for the Falklands fiasco against Exocet, I don’t think Super Etendard had a lot of remarkable performances.
That’s great information, cabbage!
Would be happy to read more 🙂

In hindsight they were simply to entertain.
Pretty apparent it’s aimed at operating over Taiwan not Honolulu
F404-102 right? F/A-18 uses F404-400.
