Thanks to all for your recommendation, specifically

Bazv : added them to list
Creaking Door: Capt. Brown’s book has been on my list for a while – but I have to wait for my Brownie points to recover!
Bruce/Goldilocks: aded to list – but the illustrations by Watanabe are outstanding!
Tomcat : another vote for Chickenhawk – noted, the Luftwaffe fiction loos interesting. I have a flight in a T6 lined up!
TwinOtter: Wrecks looks really interesting – I will be visiting Newark
J Boyle: all added to list – I picked the Putnam book in my OP for £9.99 from my local Oxfam shop

    Thanks again

Then you must like the XP-54, XP-55, and especially the XP-56.

Oh yes, pushers are good – I’m quite taken by the Pemberton-Biling PB.25. The RNAS liked them so much they ordered 20; but didn’t kept them for long replacing them something called a Sopwith.

Thanks for the welcome Peter and Evalu8ter

Wokkas are definitely on my weird list , we sometimes get them flying over our house; but not often enough.

Moggy on a maritime history site I’m a member of some one asked for recommendations for ‘primers’ – key texts covering core subject areas. My bookcase has quite a few core / must have books on warships based on recommendations. I have a few aviation books – mainly naval (no surprise) And:

    Aircraft of WW 1 + 2 – Munson
British Military Aircraft Serials 1912-1962 – Robertson
British Naval Aircraft Since 1912 -Thetford

Recent purchases – as yet unread

    Mosquito – Birtles
    Mosquito Sweetman/Watanabe
    Luftwaffe X-Planes -Griehl
    Night Fighter – Gunson
Putnam’s Aircraft of the Second World War – Jarret

What do member think of a must have thread?
