Excellent and, as you say, slightly unusual photos which add a little bit of atmosphere to that wonderful day. And the Press Pass does help, doesn’t it?;) Looking forward to seeing more.
No press pass here my friend I was working with the BlackCats 😉
Yawn… F-22 is killed, not in production and not exportable – hence irrelevant after 2020-25. Get with the program.
US needs to (learn how to) play chess more and drink less Koolaid, imho..
All I can say is “Reality used to be a friend of mine”
Having read lots of your posts on various topics you seem to have an opinion about lots of things and nearly always will say black is white if the majority say its black
A quick reply to the thread would be: (As I’ve held for around the past 3 yrs): Unfortunately the UK is proceeding ahead with a QE super Carrier which can only operate the STOVL ‘B’ variant F-35B at best. While I’ve personally promoted an entirely different strategic vision for RN over the past 3 yrs or so, I could not object enough to sticking with the current plan, as tragic and costly as it is.
Ask, and I’ll be happy to provide an alternative emergency contingency view.
Respects to UK –
I thought the design of the new carriers included the design for all operations just that the UK has opted to go STOVL because of the F-35, it could if required be sort of retro fitted with Catapults etc as they are actually large enough.
Does the UK need to embark the JSF onboard carriers? Do we need such a hi-tec jet afloat?
If the UK does have to embark in large scale offensive operations far from its shores then its safe to say that it will be in a coalition operation

So who will help us retake the Falkland Islands as and when the Argies see fit to reclaim them ?
I don’t see that being a large scale operation but a vital one none the less defending a sovereign territory .
I don’t see too many ‘Allies’ helping us out on that one unless of course HUGE amounts of oil are being pumped ashore by then, then I’m sure Uncle Sam will step in unless of course BP are involved !
Nearly 800 views and not a comment in sight, I’ll post out of focus and soft images in future…
I think that’s pretty cool and good to see something different although I can hear those penny pincher’s moaning already !
It’s clearly a Merlin?????
It clearly is.
I was amazed at the size of the tail rotor components and hence why I took the image.
Thanks for the replies guys
The close up is a helicopter but not the Apache 🙂
What equipment are you using ?
My comments depend on knowing what you are using, however quite a few are showing High amounts of jpeg artifacts which shows something has usually gone wrong in the post editing stage.

I found these additional images on another forum

I have to agree with Jur about RAW.
The only downside I can possible see is the file size of RAW (if you can call it a downside) but with huge external disks now very cheap storing those images shouldn’t really be an issue. I have three 500gb external drives and everything also backed up onto DVD.
I have the same argument with my best friend about RAW his 5D is stuck on JPEG which I just find really silly considering all the points Jur made above.
RAW is the only way forward 😉

PM Sent 🙂
