All are nice but the Gladiator/Hurricane for me really stands out!
cheers,

Thanks Nick, I’ll wait for a couple of days first,
I’m registered with too many forums right now and I can’t keep track! π
cheers,
-John
Sad news, he will be missed,
here’s my little photo tribute…………
The very first photo I saw of him was the nice colour one in the centre, with him looking up from his Mustang,
cheers,
-John
No problem Kiteflyer,
here’s the MK VIII compass in a Kingfisher…..

Mine came from one of 18 Kingfishers destined for the Dutch East Indies Naval Forces but were diverted to the RAAF when the japanese took the Dutch East Indies.
cheers,
-John
Thanks Bager,
I used to be up on everything in historic aviation in Oz but have lived in Norway for eight years. In fact for a couple of years I was the only person in Australia selling WW2/old aircraft instruments and parts at airshows.
I have visited a few wrecks here but there’s not much in the way of airshows here and only really one aircraft museum near Oslo (Gardemoen).
An interesting museum would be the NAF museum at BodΓΈ but that’s out of reach for most people down here!
cheers,
-John
Hi,
it’s a MARK VIII USN compass made by Pioneer, used in the OS2U Kingfisher and a couple of other ‘wet’ USN aircraft.
Here’s mine………..

Being an instrument maker and aircraft nut, I collect aircraft instruments, compasses and clocks are the most interesting, this one is one of my favorites.
cheers,
-John
Susannah York……….
Quite right. Probably wishful thinking on might part after ogling Susanna Reid
on BBC “Breakfast” again.
Come on guys, not Susanna Reid, not Susanna Yorke but Susannah York….. (from my B of B DVD cover).

cheers,
-John
Great, thanks Kev35,
If you ever find out where he was posted please let me know!
For those interested, here’s some of my WW2 collection………

cheers,
-John
Thanks Peter,
I just had a quick look, if he served with the RCAF it would be easier but he was an RAF officer.
cheers,
-John
It’s gotta be the Mossie…..
greatest all rounder: fighter bomber, bomber, night fighter, photo-recce, pathfinder, you name it!

Photos from AWM (Canberra) collection
IF you are talking about greatest combat aircraft, then you can only really count aircraft that have actually been proven in combat! That strikes the Typhoon off the list. π
cheers,
-John
[SIZE=”3″]Yep,
them were the days, I went into Melbourne with my dad for the first showing, I was 13 years old and grew up hearing my grandpa’s stories about his time in the RAAF during WW2.
I used to save up and collect the Battle of Britain chewing gum cards, I started collecting and didn’t stop!

Susanna York it was (I don’t remember if I thought she was an interuption to the aircraft sequences or a treat).
“You can teach monkeys to fly better than that, takatakatakataka”
Now my son loves to watch it on DVD with me!
cheers,
-John (a new guy here)
P.S. just for fun……….
