Hi Swifter, the trigger is not the problem (it’s ok on my grip), it’s the actual switch inside that is hard to source.
cheers, John
Hi Ian, one question I have is: are these a push in fit, they don’t have the small screw holding the buttons in like the later grips.
cheers, John
Hi,
Cobra grip arrived, bit disappointed that it seems to have been in a crash/fire, only one of the red buttons work, the trigger cover is good but the trigger switch is U/S.
The grip cleaned up well but I will be looking for two red buttons and a trigger switch. Can anyone tell me where to source these switches?
cheers, John
OK,
I think ‘TRIGGER ACTION’ relates to the TOW firing, that’s why it is not on the G and J model grips.
Yes ian, that’s the one,
I already have a standard, unused B8 but always wanted one with the trigger guard and ‘WING ARM FIRE’ & ‘TRIGGER TURRET FIRE’ on it. Thought I’d lash out (holiday pay came in), I’m looking forward to cleaning off that white paint!
Can you tell me why the buttons look ‘later’, is it because of the lighter red and the non rounded tops? also, some grips have an extra switch under the trigger and ‘TRIGGER ACTION’ marked on the grip……. what would that be for?
cheers, John

Hi guys,
I have just bought a grip from a Cobra AH-1 helicopter, seller says it’s from a J model (USMC with the twinpack/2 motors) but who knows, I will take some decent photos when it arrives and I finish cleaning it up but I have photos of the numbers……..
The lower number is the NSN number, the middle is the model number and the top is engraved on the bottom edge, could this engraved number show the actual aircraft that the grip came from…….. any help appreciated!
cheers, John:eagerness:
No, sorry mate, have not been up into that area for a long time, drive past it every now and then but have the family with me every time in the rush to get to the family cabin on a friday night.

Thanks Elliott & Peter,
what number tells you that it’s from a Lancaster (I only know about S25 for Sunderlands:)
Cheers, John
Hi,
that CAC bus is great to see, my grandpa worked at CAC in the 1960s (my pre-teen years), anytime I was sitting in a bus and noticed the CAC data plate I felt as proud as if I was sitting in a Mirage III 🙂
We were always invited to the CAC kids Christmas parties in fromt of the factory; while the other kids were on pony rides I was snooping around the Mirage and Macchi production lines.
Cheers,

Hi ian,
yes, that’s where I found it, I don’t have a big budget but love Harriers so when I saw it I sold a few things to get it. Despite all the grips shown here there’s few that come from known idividual aircraft. An ex-RAF engineer friend had two flights in XW268 when he was with 1 squadron in august 1984.
Nice to know XW268 is being looked after and worked on at Norwich!
cheers from Norway.

I have a grip/stick from Harrier T.4/N XW268, not sure who mounted it but it must have been someone who knew the earlier RAF history of the aircraft, her last years were with the RN, the badges are 1 (F) squadron and 233 OCU.
I’d like to get a Spitfire MkV grip if someone wants to trade?
The other grip I have is an unused RAAF Pilatus PC-9 grip mounted with an unused PC-9 data plate.

Great thread and grips!
cheers,
-John

You might get the Morris Minor van behind the engines included in a deal for the engines, get it going to take the Bristol engines home in it!
Just looking through the posts on that link:

That particular Harrier still has it’s engine fitted…….. what a waste of a good aircraft!
(Not sure if what the members of that forum get up to is always legal)
-John:)
Many thanks to CarolineC for posting this great bit of RAAF history!!
It would be great if Caroline had a few photos of her father and a bit of his RAAF service to post here!
cheers,
-John:)
