Cheers mate! I knew about Pullman thanks to a friend who visited it a few years ago 🙂

Very cool. Direct Pullman then direct O’hare is the normal landing pattern for 27R. Unfortunately, the taxi back to T5 is long. Here’s a picture I took out of the window of a UA777 of the same BMI flight you were on. He had just landed and just turned off to taxi to T5 (the 777 I was on went tech, note the open P&W engine covers…)

Outstanding report. How do you know about Pullman? Did you bring maps, get something from the pilots or did you hear it on Ch 9 on any of your later flights?

🙂 Excellent report! Usually, you only hear complaints about TED…

I have over 100 flights a year on UA, they always wait to fire up no. 2 until it’s almost time for take off. Just to save fuel..

Don’t you just love Ch 9??

Hey there. I’m a 1K flyer on UA and have been in your situation only 1 time, so I’m afraid these things happens, but it’s really rare with equipment change like this. You were probably on an A fare, discounted First Class.

If you write UA a nice e-mail telling them you didn’t get the product you paid for, they will give you a refund (most likely UA travel vouchers) for the leg you had to fly economy. (I would guess around USD 250, but no promises…)

I’m sad you didn’t get to try the E170, it’s a great commuter aircraft!

Tommy, are you a Mileage Plus 1K member that you get all these upgrades?

Yes sir, I am a UA1K, travel to Chicago every other week through LHR, so getting that status is easy :p

I couldnt agree with you more, intra European business class is not worth the money. Domestic First in the US gives you fixes, wide 2+2, not the “lego” conversion seats on LH/SK

I know I’m late in this… but filet mignon on a UAL flight? Does every overseas flight come with such good meals? This came after UAL didn’t offer peanuts to passengers on an ORD – MIA flight…

    Hey,
I got upgraded to UA International Business class. They actually have about 5 different meals to choose from. Domestic First Class is not bad either. Flew ORD-EWR friday in upgraded First, served a nice breakfast with a sandwich, yoghurt, banana and cereal with milk! They still give you nice stuff, just not in the back. Good to have a lot of upgrade vouchers 😉

Great report. SK have started to charge for food in economy but unlike most airlines have introduced a Economy premium class called Economy flex but Ive seen the prices and they are closer to BIZ fares than ECO so a bad move from SK.

    Yeah, you are completely right.

The Difference between Business and EFlex is 50£ roundtrip OSL-LHR-OSL. The gap between Economy and EFlex is more like 3-400£. Same seating area as Economy, just the first or maximum 3 first rows is EFlex (no divider).

Not worth spending the extra money for no more legroom, the only thing you get is free drinks and a snack. (and flexibility)

In business there is 2 + 2 on the 737s. They have those cool business seats on one side that transforms from 3 to 2 seats (Like LH). On the other side, they block out the middle seat temporarily, those middle seats are never touched.

Well, at least a few lesser known codes i can tell you…

    TRD Trondheim
    RVK Roervik
    BOO Bodo
    ANX Andenes
    KKN Kirkenes
    VDS Vadso

Very good, someone knows the Norwegian tundra!

I have to tell you, the last few days on the top Norway has been a complete nightmare!!

The snow storms and slippery runways has given me tons of problems. Flew Sunday TOS-KKN-BJF. Got an hour delay out of TOS, got diverted from KKN to VDS. After refueling, my destination BJF, was the next stop. Well, with 60 knots wind across the runway, that was out of the question. Got diverted to HFT, 30 minutes away by plane, but 800 kilometers around fjords by car!
Had to stay overnight there, had a good pasta, complimentary of Widerøe.

Time to try again in the morning. A little delay, but landed in strong, but ok wind. But when my meeting was over, my flight outta there was, of course, cancelled. That meant a 4 hrs taxi ride to the next town to get me to a plane that could take me to my destination KKN.

Im there now, done working, Just hope they can pick that 737 out of the sky so I can get my a… back to civilization tomorrow!

Weather looks ok now, but keep your fingers crossed for me, guys!
