Why isn’t anyone talking about population control?

Malthus did in 1798. The Chinese are talking about it as well. :applause:

Who else should be talking about population control though? The government? I don’t see that working out so well. David Attenborough suggests that some form of population control should be introduced in Africa to counter the environmental damage caused by the West. I don’t see that working out so well either! Plenty of people talk about population control, but they are usually talking ill-informed ********.

Apparently the Heil’s statement “pilot Frank Parker walked away unharmed, while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair” is also incorrect as the aircraft can and will be repaired. Judging by the photos the FW190 was reduced to a cloud of splintering wood. :highly_amused:

Part of the “problem” may be that people call them “urban explorers” (the name implies legitimacy) instead of vandals and trespasser …which is what they are.

You could brand a lot of aviation preservation societies as vandals, and amateur aviation archaeology is responsible for a fair chunk of vandalism. All these groups that went out in the ’70s and ’80s and asked farmers where aircraft came down, only to crudely hock the remains out the ground. They never found human remains, naturally.

I’m sure there is an element of the urbex community that does jimmy open windows and strip period fittings, but they seem pretty good at self-policing. The bigger crime is letting something of historic or architectural significance get into such a state that a bloke with a tripod can get in and take photos in the first place, surely?

Nostalgia makes up a vast proportion of the content of this website.

I thought it was old tossers, ukippers, and old tosser ukippers that made up a vast proportion of the content of this website. :eagerness:

    Oooh, brand nostalgia.

Somewhat ironic given that the thread started is 17, but then again I find airliners of any era to be deathly dull. Maybe I should start a thread on all the stuff I want brought back from before I was born, starting with scurvy and culminating in Gresley-designed locomotives.

Actually I think somebody should take one of the numerous surviving Vulcan B2s and convert it into a B1. I will do it myself with a spoke shave and an angle grinder if somebody pays for my transport. Anybody got a can of white paint?

In honour of last night’s debate I think the thread should be rename “Nippy Ascends – Is This The Beginning ?”

Apparently you Anglo swines took to Google in your droves last night to find out if you can vote SNP next month. Sorry, that is a treat only permitted North of the wall.

So, Lab-UKIP-SNP coalition it is then!

Are you possibly, in some way, geographically bereft or dyslexic ?

**** me, you are thick sometimes.

Somewhat ironic that you suggest I’m dyslexic yet fail to spell ‘Sussex’ correctly in the next sentence.

Ignore if you will the impact of the alleged 480 or so residential dwellings, thus converting a rural location into an urbanisation.

Dutifully ignored for the whiney NIMBYism it clearly is. :highly_amused:The construction of 480 houses will not bring the population of a hypothetical Old Sarum conurbation anywhere near the 10,000 residents required for an area to be reclassified as ‘urban’.

Given that you are within pissing distance of Salisbury, with a population of ~45,000 already, I fail to see what green and pleasant land is at stake anyway. To give you the benefit of the doubt I had a look on Google Street view to see what was at risk. Fairly disappointingly I see the usual dull, intensely managed agricultural land and small forestry stands that typifies the rural environment in Southern England. Hardly the landscape Chaucer would have seen, but whatever floats your boat. :very_drunk:

The location of an airfield within close proximity to Figsbury ring is distasteful enough. Shouldn’t this wonder of ancient Albion be enjoyed in peace without a swarm of light aircraft buzzing overhead all day long? Wind turbines are a lot quieter than aircraft, so there is my suggestion lest you need it. 😎

The only mention I can find online is for Goodwood Nova Scotia.

If a windfarm is any way through the planning process then there would be information online.

Once upon a time, not that long ago, the defence of the realm was the first priority of a government. It seems to be about 20th on the list these days……:apologetic:

I wonder how many of priorities one to nineteen could be mopped up with a bigger defence budget…
