There goes the only reason I ever had for visiting Woking!

Do you seriously think they would stick The Reds into Coningsby given its current use? I assume you have some clue as to its importance nationally.
I don’t understand why the Typhoons and Reds can’t live in peaceful coexistence at Coningsby, but that is perhaps indicative of how little I care about modern military aviation. I gather that Typhoons take off from there once in a while to go menace a Tu-95 stooging up the North Sea, or to chase one of Cobham’s Falcons. Am I close? 😀
Perhaps some folk best research the subject before commiting (sic! :applause:) to the keyboard
Because it should be the top priority of everybody to study the frequency of public transport in Lincolnshire, right enough!
…fantasy and sentimentality underpin the historic aviation preservation and conservation industry…
A problem that will neatly solve itself in the next 10 – 20 years. :applause:
…Gibson’s office and Nigger’s grave preserved…
There it is! I was looking forward to at least three pages of titter titter, and you go and blow the bloody doors off. Jigger, Tigger, Ligger… what will they call the dog in the remake?!?!
“50 people heard her haunting distress calls saying ‘we can’t hold on much longer”.

Wiiiiilson!
What have they done to the Sunderland?
Is there room for the Reds at Coningsby?
Moving the museum to Scampton actually makes a bit of sense. If they’re running out of space at Hendon then moving to an airfield, steeped in history, would be a logical step.
I’m sure Lincolnshire would benefit from a bit more tourism as well. It even forms quite a nice triangle with Duxford and Cosford if you plot them on the map, with Newark and Sywell sitting within the triangle, and Aeroventure/XH558 just up the road. You could devise a sort of aviation ‘grand tour’ if you were enterprising. :eagerness:
In what way is it shameful?
What a waste of space the BoB Hall is now, should of been filled with new gems like a Boston, Vincent, Buffalo.new exhibits keeps the interest not gimmicks .
They could of (sic) filled the BoB with such gems, but is there a Boston, Vincent or Buffalo anywhere looking for a home? I’m not convinced!
This has been a bad month for old props. Add this crash to the Convair that crashed at Wonderboom, a C-46 that made a forced landing at Manley Hot Springs Airport in Alaska, and a DC-3 that ran off the runway at San Felipe Airport in Colombia in the last month.
There was a recent mishap with a different warbird firm recently who imposed an immediate blackout on photos/reporting etc – I guess the same thing has happened here – any negative publicity with Spitfire Operator A might cause punters to pick Spitfire Operator B….
To me it simply looks like backside covering, and an attempt to circle the wagons. Maybe the problem is that aviation enthusiasts will always play armchair pilot and try and apply their own, usually faulty, analysis to a given situation?
These incidents are, surely, par for the course? These are the risks inherent in the design and age of these aircraft. If one of those Buchons doing the rounds happens to ground loop at some point during this airshow season, I won’t be too surprised. This is what Bf 109s did during active service, fairly frequently.
Pretty sure the press don’t read this forum. If they did, they might at least get some of their stories factually correct!
I’m pretty certain they do. This forum is quoted and referenced on other forums, and I recall one article following the Shoreham crash that cited individual forum posts by name. Journalists probably rely on the hive consensus of a forum, even if the conclusions are a bit wobbly.
Maybe they want more hits from Google? Or more American visitors?
I think the wings are getting reattached.
“The Twin Pioneer had its wings removed in order to be transported to Mains Farm in Thornhill where it will be reassembled by Mr Steedman before a kitchen and bathroom is fitted inside.”
I wonder how they will plumb it in…
A mixed blessing, really. Nice that it has returned to Scotland, but a shame that the interior will be re-fitted. I wonder if they will mount the tail somehow, or whether everything inside will be designed to take into account the angle of the fuselage? A little part of me wonders whether those who run these novelty ‘glamping’ attractions have the skills, time and interest to keep a historic aircraft in good condition.
Jesus! The Flypast old guard in a nutshell.
Well said Geoff! There are too many people trying to edit others’ opinions.
Indeed! We should celebrate freedom of expression! Every voice should be heard!
…presenting a personal statement or opinion isn’t a good idea if you are representing something that has nothing to do with that opinion.
So… sometimes we have to ‘edit others’ opinions’?
…my daughter had two male gay friends who where going to get married and I wouldn’t have missed that for the world…
I KNOW TWO GAY PEOPLE! I KNOW TWO GAY PEOPLE! :applause:
I stress I do not have a problem just the ramming down mine and others throats ( i.e. Sky Cinema having a LGBT movie option now…
So we should try not to ‘edit others’ opinions’, but don’t you dare do any gay things anywhere near me! And I’m not homophobic as I know two whole gay people!
You feel the same way about wearing a crucifix to work, right?
The BBC coverage was alright, but the camera operators were quite fixated with capturing the next aircraft in the sequence. This resulted in a few shots of aircraft at some distance, and some slightly odd-looking formation flying, while Sophie and co are discussing closer aircraft. Some nice shots though, just a shame it was all said and done in ten minutes!
I do wonder what the RAF will be doing for their Bicentenary…
