I’m having a look at the MAM site on Google Earth. There appears to be a bit of a scrap yard to the East of the site. The Phantom is visible against the Northern perimeter wall, next to a Vampire(?) minus tail (??). There seems to be a lot of stuff slowly disappearing into the undergrowth as you track East of the Phantom. Is this still the case? Also, who owns the two Canberras over next to the Shackleton to the West of the museum? There is a red C47 as well. Is this all part of the museum?

Hopefully the 99.999% mentioned by Charliehunt will deal with this.

I imagine they won’t. Besides, for all of the 99% peaceful majority bull****, I wager a good few of them will be able to point you in the direction of the radicals. I’m sure a few impressionable teenage muslims have been approached by radicalised individuals sitting within the congregation of bigger mosques and simply turned down their offer. There is no chance that there is zero overlap between the peaceful majority and the radical faction.

Hopefully the French will deal with this accordingly. Treading tired ground here, but if you don’t like a country’s attitude towards free speech then leave that country. This is common sense.

My father gave me a copy of The Spitfire Story by Alfred Price, and I picked up a copy of German Aircraft of World War 2 in colour by Kenneth Munson.

“Poignant: A boot of a crew member was found near the plane, suggesting they may have tried to swim away from the wreckage after it crash-landed in the Black Sea.”

Ah, that’s the Daily Mail we all know and love; evoking pathos in the most crass and banal manner possible.

Another air frame languishing in the Weeks collection as ‘being restored to airworthy condition’ I take it? What a waste!

At 2,000 pounds lighter with the 1200 horsepower Allison V-12, the SAC Spitfire will easily outperform any original MK, IX you happen to fly.

Why am I not surprised that Americans are behind this? Clearly still feeling a bit sore that they didn’t produce an aircraft as iconic as the Spitfire, they produce this mutt and try and belittle the real deal? A weird mentality. Imagine that a UK builder built P51 replicas with a lighter body and a more powerful engine, would the yanks take to it so kindly? I doubt it.

Mental illness ? Really ? Well, that must be correct because the professionals say it is.

I like to think of it as more an attitude – an attitude of mental self image and indulgence.

Spoken like somebody with zero medical credentials. You honestly think eating disorders are the result of an ‘attitude’ of mental self image and indulgence? Lord help us all.

I admire the tenacious attitude of stubborn old right whingers like yourself; where you regard professionals as being wrong because they express views that weren’t understood held 50+ years ago when you were receiving an education. For this reason you value your gut reaction over that of people who have actually carried out research in the field and actually have an education in the field. Is this a foregone conclusion of getting old? At what point do you stop learning and start to fall back on what you trust to be true, even in the shakiest of circumstances? Is there a clear line in the sand or a gradual fade between the two? You become an expert in every field based purely on conjecture and gut feeling? Sounds excellent, though it is a shame that nobody listens to old farts like yourself.

Nigel Farage defends use of word chinky.

    Amazing.

    Here are some of the responses fresh from the LBC radio Facebook page comments section, spelling and grammar preserved to underline just how thick these people are;

Nigel’s right. People do still speak like that. I know I do and two of my mates are poofters. We often go out for a chinky and before you all get over excited my parents are paddys. I’m an East end boy and I’m sick of all this PC borlocks. 3…2…1……………

Have u noticed Christmas Street Decorations no longer say ” Merry Christmas ” and have zero Christian references , your local council doesn’t want to offend anyone.

This isn’t just an “East end” thing… It’s from all over.
We’ve ALL become lazy speakers and abbreviate words without having ANY racist or nastiness implied.
I’m Scottish… And I don’t mind being called a Scot but Heaven help us if we abbreviate Pakistani.
My mother is Irish, father in Law Irish, mother in Law Italian… So often I’ve heard reference to Paddys and Tallys… But do they run to the PC Police??
No…. As there is no offence meant.
It’s about time someone came along and stuck up for the everyday person on the street who hasn’t caused any offence but it has been implied as some folk are so sensitive.

I don’t see why a forum as small and as niche as this one requires anything above minimal moderation. Was this forum much busier in the past? Seems like there is fewer than twenty unique users on here on any given day.

Added back? Why would you want them added back?

The only thing I can remember about the points versus the course was that if ‘next time’ was within three years I couldn’t do a course and would have to take the points.

By ‘added’ back I mean redacted, of course. :stupid:

Time for a stupid question; can you get those three points added back, or do they reappear after a set length of time? Can you get a back to a clean licence eventually? The idea of sitting in a portakabin for hours with a group of middle aged ‘naughty boys’, car park brimming with BMWs of various types, being shown endless Powerpoint slides on stuff I already know, with a bit of morality-thru-shock-factor thrown in, does not sound like fun to me.

    A firearm is a tool…

By that logic all joiners should be proudly displaying their Black & Deckers when they go out at night. Yes, at the most basic and/or academic level you can argue that a firearm is a tool, but to the crowd in your original link I think it means an awful lot more than that.

As for chefs, the best ones do tend to err on the corpulent. :eagerness:
