    Leave our Marigolds alone !

Is there no limit to the reach of the EU tentacles ? It seems (D. Tel. report) that protective gloves known widely as Marigolds and other plastic goods have now, according to a new EU diktat, to conform to new EU wide standards of strength, flexibility and er, ‘rubberiness’ !

I shall ignore your attempt at droll humour for just now. Your beloved prophylactics are covered by EN ISO 4074:2002 Natural latex rubber condoms – Requirements and test methods (ISO 4074:2002). Without such standards there would be a proliferation of sub-standard and poorly manufactured prophylactics that would lead to a spike in unwanted pregnancies and STD transmissions.

Likewise, I imagine standards on Marigolds (and no, I’m not going to go on the Torygraph web page to find this non-story) are in place to prevent sub-standard rubber gloves reaching the market that would either dangerously impede the wearer through lack of flexibility or possibly lead to chemical burns or other injuries by being made of the wrong material. This sounds a lot like your beloved common sense, no?

Also, you don’t understand the use of the pronoun ‘their’.

    Re 77

Don’t teach Grandma…… (If you want the full quote I’ll oblige)

See the Rules of the Forum on the use of quotes.

I saw the rules, and they said:

If you want to post replies to multiple posts you can select them by clicking the multi quote button . This button will change to indicate that you’ve selected it. Clicking post reply will then bring you to the full editor with all the posts quoted.

Nothing about using some idiosyncratic syntax to refer to individual posts. Maybe back in the mists of time this forum had a BBS-style layout that lacked the functionality to allow the quoting of posts, but the rules seem pretty clear here. There may be an argument that it makes things easier for the mods by forbidding quoting, therefore they only have to delete a single instance of a dodgy post, but I see nothing in the rules. Perhaps you should read the rules yourself, before adopting such a patronising tone.

You don’t understand the use of the noun ‘syntax’.

Wrong again. Now I appreciate this will all be a bit ‘past your time’, but surely you’ve encountered the concept of computer programming? Maybe not!

    Syntax (n)
Computers – The grammatical rules and structural patterns governing the ordered use of appropriate words and symbols for issuing commands, writing code, etc., in a particular software application or programming language.

Computer Science – The rules governing the formation of statements in a programming language.

    Keep up!

You can reply to more than one post within a single post. Also, what is with the formatting here? Nobody uses the quote function when replying to a thread but uses the tedious ‘RE#’ syntax, yet you can make four or five concurrent posts?

Anyway, RE 74, ‘grown ups’ don’t fall for UKIP’s reactionary, paint-by-numbers guff, so take a leaf out of your own book.

It’s a long, hard slog to the sunlit uplands which we may never reach, and competing politicians do the gullible amongst the elctorate no favours by holding out panacea solutions. They may well be sucked in, but only to become even more disillusioned later.

Nah, I reckon John will be dead by then. :very_drunk:

…it will be the salvation of this once great nation. Think about that.

I thought about it, and it boils down to wistful ********. When was this country great, in your opinion?

When I saw the thread title I thought they were finally raffling the great white elephant off!

Surely that is XM603, or is that a white whale? Either way, I would like to see more Vulcans in anti-flash white and fewer in splodged camo…

    RE 25

I’m thinking of sending you a PM with the name of my psychiatrist. After years of pyschotherapy she’s given up on me but, with you she’ll think all her birthdays and Christmas’ have arrived together.

I presume you never answered any of her questions either! :stupid:

If nothing else it demonstrates the not so latent hostility and contempt for the British working classes…

Nothing like your beloved Maggie then.

That MR3 looks terrible. Am I right in thinking that it was never fully assembled, rather than it has shed two engines through corrosion? I don’t think the future is to rosy for this one.

I am genuinely surprised you are only “working on it”. Surely all you have to do is fill in the form and send a nice donation!! Does your hesitancy imply a lingering doubt…..?

    Probably bedridden.

    Charlie,

Let me sooth your anxiety. If, in the worst possible case, UKIP find themselves in Parliament with a clear majority but no particular other policies apart from our removal from the EU’s embrace, the country will continue to function exactly as before – seamlessly.

Eventually and in good time – the best possible way, UKIPs policies will slide into place.

The SNP said exactly the same thing and it was dismissed as porridge gargle, probably by ‘your lot’.

    Re 9 & 11

    Such blissful ignorance !

Very droll, coming from a Thatcherite who seems to think UKIP are going to sweep into power.

Let us hope that commonsense prevails…

An entirely subjective concept that aged right whingers such as yourself seem to cling to and fetishise for some reason, though only ever in the context of it being lost or eroded. Care to elaborate? I hazard a guess that you are old enough to remember a time when eugenics was considered common sense, after all.

Like it or lump it, those kids are probably going to be in for a rough time when they move to the cities to attend university.
