Beats me! Perhaps a case of sore loser, but the conspiracy theories are already circling. I think the poster saw the loudly vocal minority of Yes voters as being reflective of the general voting intentions of the Scottish public.

The pilot must be in the Yes camp …………

A proud Quebecer, disgusted at the outcome.

Had there been a Yes vote, our crack airforce of SA Bulldogs would be up there now to safely escort her. :eagerness:

Be interested to know how these pictures were taken, as will Mr Norman because where this is parked is private property and if no permission was gained someone will be very displeased !!

I extracted the photographs from the 28 Days Later urban exploration forums. Apparently it was a controlled visit to the airfield and all above board.

CGVRA passed Sunderland now, heading North along East Coast, look-out Scotland, here’s your chance to see her.

    Bill T.

We should get a private show purely for voting to stay in the union. :stupid:

How can anybody get so worked up about somebody reusing the Spitfire name for a look-alike? Where’s the problem? Potential look-alike owners would never be in the market for the real thing and vice-versa, they are worlds apart in all dimensional, financial and performance parameters, and the marketing of the look-alike does not harm that of the real thing.

    Playing devil’s advocate, as I don’t entirely get the fuss myself, but two ideas that spring to mind;

    1) Diluting the ‘brand’. For the casual observer it would be difficult to tell the difference between genuine WW2 relic, modern replica and amateur bodge-build. One doesn’t want to feel cheated, after all.

    2) If you go to all the effort of designing a Spitfire-like aircraft built on a different power plant, and to a different scale, surely call it something else as credit to your hard work? In the guitar world, guys knock together replicas of all the ’50s and ’60s classic instruments, and then put the original manufacturer’s logo on it. Why try and blend your hard work into the crowd? Your aircraft is clearly built around the aesthetics of the Spitfire, so there is no need to use the Spit name as well, surely?

Looks like she is going to. http://fr24.com/CGVRA

Will watch this (web)space. She did come in over North Berwick from Iceland at the start of her jaunt, after all.

I trust that expecting Vera to return over the East of Scotland is asking far too much.

Nobody has mentioned that the NO! vote only won by 5% from a draw or that 45% voted for independence while 55% voted to put up with the crap that is dished out from Westminster on a daily basis.

Nobody? You should spend five minutes on my Facebook feed.

Is my memory deceiving me but do I remember a Connie being used as a restaurant somewhere on the outskirts of Strasbourg ?? It would have been late 60s or early 70s.

    Colin.

I think they tried that for a while outside Faro airport in Portugal, but the thing was scrapped in the end.

I was going to say perhaps the buy one get one free promo has ended….but was this ever a flier, as the stearman engine isn’t cowled is it?

It looks like a wooden panel back there. Maybe it was a static model, as you suggest, MerlinXXII.
